Southwest Cancellations

I have a flight on Wednesday morning out of OKC on Southwest. Based on the news reports, it looks like we're going to get major snow here beginning at midnight on Wednesday (possibly earlier). This storm is supposed to be similar to the one we had last week and most likely will result in flight cancellations at OKC.

Does anybody have any experience with Southwest on how early they will cancel their flights? My understanding is that Southwest will allow you to rebook an earlier flight for free if yours is cancelled. Any help here would be appreciated

If you're Lucky? They let you know before you leave home. But thats NOT always the case.
I've been notified by Call, while arriving at my Gate, about the delay. Too late, but they tried. lol

SW is really Great as far as helping rebook you. Can walk up to ANY Gate agent, or start calling
800 Iflyswa on your phone while you wait in line. lol

MY alternative..........IF I'm still at home, and at my computer, and since I travel alot on SW anyway......

I would book Another flight. Keep the one you have, and book a second flight, like the next day.

Just cancel whichever one you don't use. those funds are good for a year.

For example, If you get to the airport for your Original flight & its cancelled?
Can take care of it right there......Gate agent....or use the other Flt. you booked & not have
to worry about your 2nd flight filling up with all the cancelled people.

Not everybody does this.........but when weather sketchy? And you can use those funds within a year?
Book another Flt. just in case.

Thanks for the response, Calif.Loves.Vegas. I checked Southwest again and they let us change our flight for free because of the impending weather. No change fees and no increase in fare price. Gotta LUV SWA!
