Southwest early boarding

Thanks for you reply on paying more for tickets. I was hoping it was on a first sign-up basis. It is hardly worth the effort since we had used Visa rewards for our tickets. This is the one thing I do not like about SWA seating. Yes they are cheaper, no luggage fees and a few other things but seating procedure instead of seating assignments during reservations sucks. The toss of a coin for better wording.

Southwest checks you in 36 hrs. prior to boarding when you use Early Bird. You can wait and get your boarding assignment at the airport. Our experience has been that we get a lower A number the further out we purchase our tickets. I don't think it's based on the price you paid for your tickets, just when you bought them. Those who pay for Business class tickets are boarded first (A1-15) no matter when they purchase them because they pay more to board first.

I've used the EB several times and have always landed an "a". I usually only purchase the EB for myself

and save a seat for my wife. .....Tom

Wife and I have two different confromation numbers so I purchased the roundrtips separetly. If we end up in A would be great if not what can I do. More interested in aisle seat across for one an another.

We always have different confirmations and have always gotten boarding assignments within a couple of numbers of each other.

All my tickets have been free for the last 4 years and my wife has had a companion pass. All our seats are A, usually around 20 with the highest being 31...so much for price making a difference!
Always seperate confirmation numbers and have always had consecutive boarding numbers. We always pick up the boarding passes at the airport.
I usually book 2-3 months out (afterall they have to have free seats available), so I'm usually on the list fairly early for boarding numbers...the system works fine for us.
My flight next week reflected a change in a reservation I made only 2 weeks ago (from New Hampshire to LV), so it will be interesting to see if that gives us a higher number.

I never pay early boarding, and always manage an A or low B.
If you check bags, it doesn't really matter.
High B's, you may have trouble with overhead space.

Why do some spouses do this?
I mean its not the end of the world.....but its usually Annoying for Other customers when you do this.
Talking or snoring across the aisle rather than sit together......keep your business......Together.

Sometimes the Parents sit together, and kids Together on another row? sheesh.

If you're traveling with people..........Sit WITH them, so others don't have to. LOL

CLV: I think some couples sit across the aisle from one another so that they both get aisle seats and neither one has to sit in a center seat. I don't do that when I'm traveling with someone; would prefer to keep our conversation between us and not intrude on others.
I'm more curious about those who check bags and upon arriving at the destination, are in a huge hurry to deplane and ... wait at the carousel.
Or the ones who have to use the rest room on the plane while passengers are still boarding - given a choice, I myself prefer the airport rest rooms.

We perfer aisle seats because the middle seat in any airplane sucks. 5 hour flights allows me to just get up and stretch legs without climbling over another passenger. On the other hand before long they will be charging more for aisle and window seats but hardly chege for the middle seat. Even if fyling solo I would much more perfer the asile seat.

the price you pay for your tickets is a factor in determining your EB number. When I complained to southwest about getting b15 and b16 when I purchased my tickets and early boarding six months in advance I was told by a southwest rep that it was because of the low price I paid for my tickets.
