Southwest new rules

Start May 11 passengers will be required to wear mask in airport and during flight.  Fewer passengers to be booked on each flight, no middle seating necessary, though three traveling together can sit together if they wish.  No snack service.  No drink service.   "At least until June 30."  \

Geez, taking all the fun out of air travel, though less crowding will be nice.

They will board in groups of 10.  Do not hand your boarding pass to the gate agent.  Rather scan it yourself and keep it.

Extensive cleaning procedures detailed on the memo.

Masks will be required....

Thanks Candy & Blonde4ever, you ladies always keep us updated with the best info. We rebooked our April 28- May 4 trip to June 24-July 1 for the original price of $300 for 2 round trip, was worried about not wanting to travel then, can I rebook from June-July trip , believe Soutnwest customer service said yes if  rebooked in 60 day window.(at $300 price )  Does this sound correct? Comments please. Again Thanks Ladies

Hard to imagine a 3 hour flight with a mask and NO ALCOHOL.  My flight is on June 9th.  I just hope Harrah's is open along with Downtown.

Thanks, Bobby.  Before calling SWA again, peruse the web site and locate your preferred flights--date, time, flight numbers, write them down.   If one fits your fancy try rebooking it yourself.  Might not allow you to--SWAs system does that if you've ever had to use customer service to make changes.   I thought my original limit was 14 days for the flights.  Or maybe I just had 14 days to re-book at same price.  Memory fades.   And remember they post new fares every Tuesday, often something will be lower priced.

I had booked our July 18 trip in Jan or Feb? to fit with friend Connie's birthday celebration; price was high but I counted on it coming down (What is wrong with me???).  But, it did come down twice, dramatically with virus news and stock market taking.  So we banked a lot of "travel funds" just rebooking same flights.  Then  the big shut down, flight cancellations.    I had rebooked to later July non-stops, then the "takeover" elimination of THAT non-stop flight.  Sigh...  So it seems if you see a non-stop later in the calendar, don't count on it.  It could be changed closer to the trip.  But I can tolerate one plane change, not three.

Then I read the "corona virus update" link on the SWA site.  A long list of states and territories and cities "that you came from or through" into Texas.  If so you have to self-quarantine for 14 days, a form to fill out and hand the health dept. agent upon deplaning at the gate...yikes!  We change flights at Love Field!  But that only applies if Texas was to be your final destination.  I remember Texas was a state with very high number of cases, so probably the gov. trying to tamp that down.

I haven't told husband or friend of the mask requirement yet.  Both may opt out!  I won't go alone.  Waiting to see what happens.  Good luck to you, Bobby.

Still planning to go on June 20th for 8 nights.  Things won't be fully open, but I hope they're open enough.

I always thought drink service was required by law.  Guess not.

flying from Indy to Chicago takes about 40 minutes.    As soon as you hit cruising altitude you begin the descent.     Flight attendants are practically running down the aisle to serve drinks before landing.    I always wondered why bother even having drink service on such a short flight.   Figured it was required.

No no booze on the flight to Vegas?   One more reason to postpone.   Hoping to go around thanksgiving.

There is/was a 'policy' (all airlines) that some level of nourishment be provided on flights over X number of hours, more than 3 1/2?   And more than just crackers and soda.  I'm guessing a pandemic means a lot of exceptions to a lot of policies.

Honestly, 1 hour in a mask in Walmart (or anywhere) and I get a little breathless.  And I'm healthy in that regard.  How will others do?  Can't walk outside for a quick breath of air.
