Southwest

A great Southwest story on CBC Canada radio Monday.
Story was that the live-in boyfriend of a young mother beat her 3 yr old son and he was hospitalized on life support.
Decision was made to take the child off life support and the grandfather received a call to get there for one last visit before life support was turned off. The mother booked him on Southwest but due to traffic delays he arrived 12 minutes after departure time.
The plane was still there and the pilot met him.
The pilot told him that the plane couldn't depart without him, and he wasn't prepared to depart without this passenger.

Great to hear a feel-good airline story.
What a great lesson on how to create customer loyalty.

This happened a year and a half ago at LAX. Drunk, stoned guy throws his girlfriend's two year old son across the room. The kid's head hits a bedframe. He's severely injured. Guy takes a couple hours to call for help. In the end, he's charged with first degree murder.

Southwest somehow got wind of the grandfather's situation. When the airline realized that the grandfather would be 12 minutes late getting to the gate, the pilot decided to hold the flight.
