Spirit Airlines

Long story short, I flew Spirit R/T a week or so ago from MPLS-Vegas , plane was delayed over 2 hours on the outbound segment, they refunded me $50 by voucher. My total R/T was $118.00 Just looked today at my voucher, and Spirits Vouchers are only good for 60 days, usually you get a year to redeem, So unless I fly them by the 2nd week of Nov. I'm screwed !
I would pay whatever extra dollars before flying Spirit. Just not worth the hassle with all there add on prices.
Returned Saturday from another Vegas trip; 4th time this year flying from MSP to LAS on nonstop flights using Sprit Airlines. Again, I had no problems using these guys. I prepaid for my checked bag, so my total fare came to $210, which at the time I booked my flights was at least $120 less that any other carrier. My son flew with me, using a small carryon that fit under the seat(no baggage fee). I put some of his clothes in my suitcase along with my items and my suitcase weighed in at 32 pounds; well below their 40 pound limit(this was a 6 day trip and I had more that enough clothes). I did not pay for a seat selection, but printed out my boarding pass a day ahead of time...was assigned a window seat going out and an aisle seat coming back. Both flights were on time. We had windy conditions coming into LAS, but the pilot did a great job dealing with the crosswinds and put us down smoothly. The flight attendants were friendly, and my ordered cocktail was quickly delivered(Two Tangueray gins and a can of tonic water = $13). I booked another round trip fare for my Dec trip....$98 total cost. This will be a 3 day solo trip so I am packing light.(see footnote). So far so good....I have saved a ton of money by using this airline for my Vegas trips and have yet to experience the nightmare experiences that other travelers have encountered.

FOOTNOTE:
My son purchased a small suitcase made by American Tourister that meets the size requirements to be a free carryon personal item for Spirit Airlines. It has a telescoping handle, wheels, two outside pockets, an inside pocket and fits under any airline seat with ease; including Spirit's seats. It is amazing how much stuff you can put into this thing. Walmart sells this little gem for $40. This is the perfect remedy to avoid Spirit's baggage fees, and still have a bag that will carry more than enough items for a 3 day trip(at least if you are a guy). I plan to purchase one for my upcoming solo Vegas getaway...it will pay for itself in one trip.

My main gripe was the fact that I only had 60 days to redeem the Voucher, I thought I had a year for sure.
By the way, the reason for the Voucher, after loading us all in the plane, and the luggage, and after being
pushed back from the Jetway, " here it comes " The plane wouldn't start !! We waited on board for awhile,
then the Captain announced that they would need to unload us and our luggage and wait for another plane
to come in to take us to Vegas.

Would not start?? Ouch!
