Hundreds of thousands? Now THAT is some revisionist history.
I don't know this ever-climbing number. But that's the correct magnitude.
Right or wrong, the United States invaded both Afghanistan and Iraq as a direct result of hijackings. Undebatable.
Here's a smorgasbord of numbers for Iraq. The figures all exceed 100,000 for that war alone. Factor in the thousands killed in Afghanistan, on 9/11 itself, and all the various coalition force casualties, and I think it's a fair generalization.
If the TSA agents at McCarran are unduly rude or actively harassing passengers, there's no dispute that needs to be addressed, harshly. But if they're simply being stern in directing people to scanners, well, that just sounds like they're doing their thankless, necessary jobs.
I completely agree that gun and vehicle casualties in this country are unacceptable and require further efforts. (Hello, distracted drivers.) Probably a good topic for a different thread.
