TSA Nudeosope OVERKILL at McCarran, especially if you are a Woman!

Chilcoot is right on with his comments. Those that complain the most about getting scanned would be at the head of the line complaining if one of their family or friends was a victim of an airliner terrorists attack. I can hear it now, "Why didn't the TSA scan the terrorist before the terrorist boarded?" You can't have it both ways. As far as I am concerned the TSA can scan every passenger on the flights I take. I learned long ago that it isn't all about me.

The full-body scanners at McCarran are not used for punishment or titilation. Have you seen the images they generate? The stick figures that cavemen scrawled millenia ago are more arousing. The scanners are part of effective countercrime tool and should continue to be widely deployed.

Every now and then we have to make minor sacrifices for the good of this country. This is one good citizens should be willing to make in exchange for the convenience of air travel. Think of all the troops we lost as a result of those attacks, I think nearly 5,000 of them have died, and tens of thousands have life-changing injuries.. And, if being scanned is too much, we fortunately have lots of options.

It's healthy for passengers to complain and for procedures to be reviewed. But other than the TSA officers' alleged rudeness, I don't think being sent to these scanners is any reason for concern.

Hundreds of thousands? Now THAT is some revisionist history.

When terrorists start annually knocking off as many people as we do here as "good citizens" with our guns and our cars then I'll start lining up to piss all over civil liberties in the name of (perceived) security.
There is a vast difference between "minor sacrifices " and abuse of power

there is a vast difference between "Minor Sacrifices" and harrassment.

There is a vast difference between fu*king w/ people because she can.

4 woman in a row w/ no line? ~~ Perverted, Power-hungry Sadist is more like it.

I don't know this ever-climbing number. But that's the correct magnitude.

Right or wrong, the United States invaded both Afghanistan and Iraq as a direct result of hijackings. Undebatable.

Here's a smorgasbord of numbers for Iraq. The figures all exceed 100,000 for that war alone. Factor in the thousands killed in Afghanistan, on 9/11 itself, and all the various coalition force casualties, and I think it's a fair generalization.

If the TSA agents at McCarran are unduly rude or actively harassing passengers, there's no dispute that needs to be addressed, harshly. But if they're simply being stern in directing people to scanners, well, that just sounds like they're doing their thankless, necessary jobs.

I completely agree that gun and vehicle casualties in this country are unacceptable and require further efforts. (Hello, distracted drivers.) Probably a good topic for a different thread.

YES, thats how we felt. It was blatant, and I hope McCarran does something about it, soon.
If we're talking about safety and TSA, body counts on "collateral" activities aren't really germane.

That planes haven't dropped since doesn't prove anything about the relative effectiveness of the system; for all the proven flaws even with our beefed-up security, bad guys commandeering planes historically has been a rare event even when we were "lax."

As for my other comments, it is all relative. I'm floored about how sheep-like this nation becomes when faced with something like terrorism versus the mayhem we've long visited upon each other. It's scary. It's Big Government telling us what is right and wrong is what it is, and we eat it up, collectively.

If ya'll really want safer skies, then arrive four hours early, put everyone through the nudiscope and ban carry ons.
We went through the "nudiscope " for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It was painless. We are both AARP members and can only hope someone was interested enough to look.
Just don't sweat while you are in there.....

Right----I'd kind of take it as a compliment!!
For the past 6 months Flying I have an 80% nudiescope record at McCarran.

5% every Other airport..

I would call that overkill at McCarran. Its definately gotten worse this year.

And thanks to the very rude TSA on top of it?
A lousy way to send your Vegas vacation customers on their way home.
