Uber

Just wondering if anyone has used Uber in Las Vegas? I have been long hauled so many times. I am thinking about trying Uber on my March trip.
Uber is illegal in the State of Nevada as of this date. They are appealing, but as of now, Uber cannot operate in the State.

If your long hauling is from the airport to your hotel, use one of the airport shuttles. Flat rate from airport to the hotel ($7.50 or so to the Strip) so no worries about that. Not as fast as taxi but dependable regarding cost.
Also, if you are long hauled, keep this number on you. (702) 668-4005 which is the dispatch number for the Taxi and Limousine Commission. Just tell the driver that you were just long hauled, are going to call the commission and will not get out until a taxi and limo commission representative shows up to document the incident. I guarantee you that you will be dropped off immediately and the ride comped by the driver.

If I don't know what it should cost how do I know if I have been long hauled from the airport?
Thanks
Joe
Go to https://taxi.state.nv.us/FaresFees.htm. You will find the approximate minimum fares from the airport to the hotels/casinos. In general, if you are going to the main strip (Mandalay Bay thru Stratosphere) and they take the tunnel, you are being long hauled.

Larry, Thank you!

Larry makes a very good point. The greasy cabbie who long hauled you would likely be willing to eat the entire fare instead of waiting for the TA (taxi cab authority police) to arrive and risk getting a fined.
There's no reason for any of us knowledgable Vegas types to worry about being long-hauled from the airport.

Know where you're going, tell the driver whether it's okay to take the tunnel or the freeway to get there, and kick back.
