Has anyone recently used Uber from Mccarren? How efficient was it? How long did you need to wait?

I never have had a problem with Uber or Lyft from Mccarren. The wait depends on what time of day you arrive. But, it has never beem more that 10 or 15 minutes. The fare was usually $16 or $17.
I found out taking a taxi back to the airport at 4AM cost me a "fixed rate" of $23 from the strip.
I'll usually take Bell Trans from Mc Carran and Uber back from Downtown.
I get a ONE way from bell trans. Cheap and just OK.

The only problem might be cell service but that could have been fixed. I tried a couple of years ago, and my cell signal was weak inside the parking garge where they make you go to catch Uber/Lyft. I kept getting a message "no cars are available". Other potential passengers were getting the same message, so I took a taxi. Once I got to Green Valley Ranch, I ended up sitting and drinking next to a Lyft driver. He showed me his phone - there were Lyft drivers clustered around the airport, but weren't getting many passengers. He said he wouldn't be surprised if the Taxi cartel wasn't having McCarran block cell service in that location so people would be forced to take a cab.
I'm reading elsewhere that there are far fewer Uber and Lyft cars available these days.
Can anyone update the status from McCarran Airport?
thank you.
Yeah, the Vegas local news did a reporting bit on it. Came up in my news feed.
People were saying there was a 40 minute wait or more for Uber/Lyfts right now. Some of that is because its March Madness and the basketball torunament brings alot of people to the city but its also because many Uber drivers quit in Vegas because they dont make enough money.
From March 27–April 2, I tried using Lyft 4-5 times and never caught a ride. At South Point, the Lyft app siid to mask up and meet the driver or I would be charged a No Show fee. The driver called looking fo me and he was at NYNY! I havent been in NYNY years.

What about the city bus? Is hitch hiking legal?
