Vegas car rental considerations..

I have a trip to Vegas scheduled for 27/Oct - 14/Nov. So far the rental car prices I have been quoted; 27/Oct to 14/Nov = $511 from Fox ( cheapest). From 27/Oct to 1/Nov =$149 from Fox. From 1/Nov to 14/Nov =$242 from Fox. Adding the 2 consecutive offers from Fox = $391. Obviously, breaking my rental car reservations into 2 separate reservations is cheaper, by $120. Crazy! Something to think about....
I've done this a few times in the past on my longer trips. not only do I save on the base prices, but I can use a second coupon too.

A few times recently I have had 2 reservations booked but just before my trip the rates dropped so it was either lower than doing 2 rentals or close enough in price to make it not worth the time to do it.
We just booked a car from Thrifty for $313.24 for two weeks (Oct. 27 to Nov. 10). This is for a Midsize. You have to click on "HOT DEALS" to get this price. The extra four days may negate this deal. Also you must be a Thrifty "Blue Chip" member. We just checked your dates would total $457.13 Everything included.
I have broken up mine before as well for a big difference in price. I am a late sleeper, so waking up early one day to go back to the car rental center I did not like, but it was worth it I guess.

If you do break the rental into two parts, do you get your same car right back or do they make you do a completely new rental? I'm going over Christmas and prices are sky high. However, my other choice is riding with my 85 year-old aunt!
Thanks!

a new rental. and breaking up into 2 different reservations could also mean 2 different companies depending on what kind of deals you can find. but with the consolidated rental facility at Mccarren, that is fairly convenient.
Thanks! I think I will go that route, because there are a couple of days mid-trip when I will not need a car.
I have been looking at rental prices for end of January for 8 days. About 2 weeks ago I booked Alamo for my last 4 days for total of $45.88. Today I booked Budget for my first 4 days at $101.91, so about $147 total for my 8 day trip. Least expensive I could find for all 8 days with one company was $253. Booked through Costco and will continue to monitor rates until the day before rental pickup. Big savings for a little inconvenience but I am travelling alone and staying at 3 different hotels so having a car to switch hotels, pickup supplies, and take advantage of off strip coupons/specials makes it worthwhile for me.

Just a few hours later and Budget drops the price for my 1st 4 days to $86. Will take advantage of more they want to give me. $132 for 8 days isn't bad at all.

Double smiley today. Rate dropped to $75 for Budget rate.

Checked rate for same car/same dates today and $197 for 4 day rental!!

Nice work - this is why I start spending about a minute every day checking prices starting a month before any trip. Enjoy!

when I start planning my Vegas trips, the car rental part is what I least enjoy. once I book, I keep checking almost daily. I may consider, on at least one of my 3 trips this year, not renting one at all. I think there may be a free airport shuttle at one of the hotels I am staying at, combined with maybe 3 or 4 Uber fares, it may come out cheaper.
