Westcliff - McCarran to Downtown questions

Can anyone help? I would like to take the Westcliffe Airport Express to and from the Airport to Golden Nugget downtown.

1st Question: Where does the bus pick-up at the Airport (i.e. by the Shuttles, cabs, or elsewhere)?

2nd Question: Is luggage allowed on the bus (i.e. checked bag size)?

3rd Question: How convenient/safe a walk is the downtown drop off point at Casino Center to Golden Nugget?

This sounds like a great deal - $2.00 and under an hour point to point.

Thanks, all.....

1. There is a bus stop at the airport. It's on its own, not where cars or other vehicles normally go. Just ask, it's not far from bag claim.

2. Yes, baggage like that is welcome and easily accommodated.

3. It's both convenient and safe. You'll get off at 4th and Carson, half a block south of the east end of the Fremont Street Experience. Walk to Fremont, past Fitzgeralds and Four Queens, and you're there.

Check out this Google Map.

To catch the bus at the airport, go down to the Zero Level. Stairway is a bit hidden---just ask anyone who works at the Airport. RTA busses pick up at the far right (as you leave the stairway) of the area. Various hotel shuttle busses (Red Rock, Palace Station, etc.) also pick up in the area, but RTA is at the end. At chil said, luggage is no problem and you get off at the Walgreens just east of Fitz.
Thank you both for the great info. These forums are a wonderful source of money and time-saving tips. I appreciate your help!

Another benefit - not many people are taking the bus, at least not yet. So the likelihood is that it will not be crowded. Since it only makes a few stops, it is almost as fast as taking a taxi. Certainly faster than taking one of those shuttle buses.

The only drawback I found is that it doesn't run but once an hour, so depending on what time your plane lands and you get your luggage, you might have to wait a fair amount of time.

A couple of other routes use that same stop. So make sure you take the Westcliff bus - it's clearly marked as such. If it's going to be a long time before that bus comes and the 109 comes through, you can take that to the South strip transfer point, then take the Strip/Downtown express downtown. Not as convenient or clean as the Westcliff, but a viable option nonethless.
Does this bus run very hour on the hour 24 hous a day ???

The last time that I looked at the schedule, it varied by time of day---but sometines of the day it could be nearly an hour wait. Google "RTA Las Vegas" and then click on "Routes" and then go down to the bottom of the list and click on 'WAX". It will give you the scheduled times of McCarran pickups during the day. But if you just miss one, it could be a bit of a wait. But once on the bus, it flys DT. It will stop at the Bonneville Trans Center, but you just stay on and get off when you see Walgreens.
Here's the schedule through Sep 17.

Here's the schedule beginning Sep 18..
