What is US 95 like between LV and Reno?

I was considering driving from LV to Reno to take advantage of slot tournaments and free play offers.
Google maps says it's a 7 hour drive on US 95 through Nevada. I've never been on US 95 and wonder what the road is like in winter (would be mid February).

My wife and I drove up from Vegas about 4 years ago and found the ride to be okay. It is pretty much country scenes with not much to see or stop for. There are a number of little towns or wide spots on the way that causes one to slow down on you speed. I didn't want to get into any trouble with Nevada Best, so we obeyed the posted speed limits thru the little towns. It is certainly is worth the trip if you have the
time. At least once anyway. Save driving.

Good quality two lane highway with good shoulders and few reasons to slow down.

Thank you both for the info, I really want to take advantage of my LV and Reno/Tahoe offers and driving would be the best way to get to both. I checked airfare, it was too much for 2 of us to fly.

If I may offer a suggestion,if you have a cell phone,make sure you have a car charger just in case you do run into trouble.

I have a friend who resides in Reno. He would always drive up and meet us when in Vegas. The combination of 6.5 hours, cost of fuel and the typical speeding ticket, he has since traveled via airplane. So, be aware of speed traps which are located just outside of the small towns. Other than that, it is a pretty easy ride.

It's a long boring drive. Speed limits are either 70 on the open road or 25 as you go through the small towns. You may wish to check weather forecasts before your trip and check to see if Nevada has a website that lists road conditions.
