whats up with end of march rates?

Im coming out the 30th of march. The rates are ridiculous. Every time Ive rented a economy or compact car, and I average 3 trips a year, Ive paid some where between $8 and 18 dollars a day. Everyone is at $40 plus a day, and nothing is going on. any suggestions!

March Madness? The final games are April 2nd and 4th.

It is called rental car "supply and demand" = price gouging. The same concept the casinos use for conventions, New Years Eve, etc.

I've been watching early march. Currently have a mid-size for $21/day and can't rebook as rates are double or higher. The Dollar city special was $201/day for a minivan!

I finally found a good deal at Thrifty for March 28 - April 5 for 200 for the wild car deal. That being said
this is the most I have paid in recent memory. At this rate I may buy a cheap car and leave it in Vegas.
My rental car expense has been as much or more than airfare lately.

I booked w/ Alamo on Feb. 10 for our march 31-April 5 trip and got an economy for $134 total. Not as good as it used to be but I don't think it's too bad. I haven't checked back lately to see if rates have changed.. guess I should do that!

My last trip, the prices were High until 2 days before. Book what you can & keep checking.
Even until the last min. Seems like they release some at the last min. just like hotels do.
