Will Southwest Airlines Have a Summer Sale For Flights From Chicago?

I am trying to plan an August trip to Las Vegas, but the fares seem very high. Do you think there will be a sale from Southwest for the summer months? Approximately when do you think the sale would be announced? Thanks for any advice!

Southwest's anniversary is in June. For the past 3 years they have had a sale on June 9,10, or 11 for $49/$99/$139 (or similar), depending on the distance you fly. When this happens book FAST, especially in big cities like Chicago.

Aside from that, sales can happen any time - I ususally check 3-4-5 times a day, every day.

Subscribe to e-mails. Last week many of us got a 20% off coupon in e-mail. I used it to book DAL-LAS for $98 one way (although $98 was already their regular price the previous week).

Subscribe to Ding! Last week I got a Ding fare for DAL-CLT-DAL for $70 one-way, regular price $272 one way. Las Vegas Ding fares are rare nowadays, but you never know.

And, you can book a fare and if it goes down later, you can change your reservation (or cancel and rebook). The extra funds are good for 1 year - be sure to save your old confirmation number and use the ticketless travel funds on a future trip.

Ignoring the ultra-frugal Spirit Airlines at $248 before the fees start to pile up, I see United flying from ORD to LAS for $315 roundtrip in July.

Not sure what the OP was hoping to pay, but that looks to me like a fair price.

Thanks for the advice. The lowest roundtrip from Chicago (Midway) for my dates in August were about $364. I was hoping to get it closer to $300. I guess I'll just keep checking the fares every day. I do subscribe to Ding, but I haven't seen a Chicago-Las Vegas Ding fare in a long time!
