I guess it has been longer than I realized since I have driven through Baker. I couldn't find any mention of the thermometer being broken on these forums so I had assumed it had occurred fairly recently. I have seen it put up some questionable temperatures before but now it just has a few random bulbs lit. Why doesn't someone unplug the poor thing.
The best place to get gas while driving across the desert between Victorville and Las Vegas on I-15 is at the Arco station in Yermo. The prices there are usually cheaper than LA and definely the cheapest from Victorville to Las Vegas. The Arco is on the south side (north bound side) of I-15 at the Ghost Town Road exit.
I always find it interesting that the two gas stations on the north side of I-15 at the same exit sell their gas for 20 to 30 cents more per gallon. They must count on people exiting on that side to never check prices on the other side of the freeway.
