You went with Priceline..whose car did you get?

I am considering bidding on my rental car through priceline. What have your experinces been ?Good ,bad ,which rental company did you end up with and was the priceline price the final price. Thanks
I booked a car rental for Feb 20th thru Feb 25th on Priceline. Final price was $157 for a compact with Alamo. The best price I can still find today is $251. So I saved almost $100.
Also, Priceline will give you a major car company. I refuse to rent from Dollar or one of the other rinky dink car companies.
I'm an old guy. Did the Dollar dance for many years then changed things up when they went downhill. Got some good deals from Avis etc with coupons. Last trip did Priceline for the 1st time. Ended up with as good a rate as I could have gotten anywhere. Got a fullsize from Hertz. The car was worn out but I brought it back and got a better car.

Priceline Good
Decent if not best rate
Most people are getting Hertz (used to have the best fleet now it has some stinkers like competition)
Like having my rental paid for prior to the trip.

Priceline Bad
Pay up front. If your plans or needs change you are up the creek.
Felt I was treated as a non-profit customer. Could have been my imagination as the clerk I got was a jerk.

Would do it again but do not have strong feeling either way.

BTW if you end up with a Hertz car and have a Hertz coupon as I did it is worthless.

I went with Alamo, with a midsize for 1 week for $152 taxes, and all the other garbage included. There is a $30 off coupon on their website for any rental of 5 days or more. I was hesitent to do priceline.

My Priceline car was through Hertz. Saved $100 for the week compared to the lowest competitor (with coupon). No complaints. Downside is that it's prepaid and you cannot change the reservatino.
My last trip, Priceline hooked me up with Hertz. This coming trip they hooked me up with National.
I've used Priceline about a dozen times and have had no problems, but you need to be aware that you can lose everything if your plans change.
I have used Dollar for every trip out there....you have to keep watching the Dollar sites...and check frequently....I have no discounts, not even an AM Exp usual 10%....but one day, the base price for a week showed up at $81. total will be about $146. and this is for Super Bowl week...Feb 2 to 8....

I have always been able to get a decent car...always book an economy...and usually do better....and if plans change....I am not charged....so just my two cents worth...

Have a great trip...

Thanks for all the help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!Vegas here I come
did not do priceline did hot wire. Got Hertz. Had to wait in the normal line becaues I dont have a express option with them. Took a little longer then I anticipated. Loved the car we got. Would do it again if I couldn't find a decent deal elsewhere.
