Fives Ways to Accomplish NO Las Vegas Resort Fees

Edited on Jan 2, 2020 5:25am by Michael Trager

Resort fees suck no doubt, and its hard to avoid them, but if you can get your rooms comped then they waive the resort fees.I know your saying that you have to gamble a lot, well not really.Yes you need to feed the machines or tables, but constant play even if not top dollar will help you out.Just as long as they see you have interest in playing they ussually gradually help you out with some freebies, but believe me you haave to ask for whaat you want as they just don't comeup to you and give it away on their own

Have you been able to get MGM (Mlife comp rooms) to "waive" resort fees on comp-room marketing offers? I hear conflicting stories and opinions about this. Caesars is "easy," since all you need to do is a match to Diamond Status.

Have never been charged Resort Fee for mLife Platinum room comp offers.  Vegas and Biloxi.  Never comes up.  Just like with Diamond and higher with Caesars.

In Vegas they have a form at check-in that contains the number of nights, the dates in and out, and rate of "Comp" (all typed in), a full page of rules and regs.  I noticed one of the items halfway down the page  addresses how Resort Fee "may be assessed", which may cause some confusion.  The form is not tier-specific.  I never asked about it.  Certainly Noir would not have Resort Fee assessed.  Don't know about tiers lower than Plat.

I think the issue isn't the resort fees per se, it's that advertising doesn't mention them and room rate quotes omit them, even though everyone has to pay them (comps notwithstanding). The surprise element is what really pisses people off.

You've spent the weekend at the Golden Commode, you've paid $390 (you thought) for two nights at this glittering pleasure palace, you've paid outrageous prices for meals that were...pretty good, and you dumped $1700 at the slots and the tables. Then, at checkout, the clerk informs you that you owe an additional $88 for resort fees. You are surprised, then annoyed, then you pay it because, well, you have no choice.

But are you coming back next year?

I think that's fair. It almost feels like you're being tricked or taken advantage of.

I agree with Kevin it is not the fee hotels can and will charge what they want. Just do it all up front so I know.

Your choice may be to see your host. They CAN fix it. They know who you are and can make a conession...

 but you HAVE TO ASK.

Do I qualify for this (or that) comp? ASK!

All the bean counters see is your stay, not what you play.

The host knows. Just ask.

$88. Yeah, that would chap my hide as well.

OK,you have had a rough losing streak on your last day and maybe you have a medium-sized hangover.

I would pay $88 for a little more invitational time to the next session.NO,I WOULD NOT.

Eat dirt.

"I paid all of your wages for the last few days and I will not be taken advantage of,here."

Add that to your Trip Adviser postings.

I pay my Rip off fees at the end of my stay.If I feel like being a sheep, and being butt-hurt,I'll pay just to get OUT OF THERE!

"Well honey,we won't be staying here any more.Got any more ether left?"  (Devil ether). You are driving.

No need to be a "diamond" player.   Many hotels will send you future free room offers with waieved resort fees with minimal play.     Some will give you free room but still charge the resort fee.     Either way its a pretty friggin good deal compared to Priceline.

Tropicana, SLS, Stratosphere, Stations Properties, The D, El Cortez all send me free room offers in the mail on a monthly basis and I'm not at a VIP level  at any of those.
