Except for all the money I spent.
Flight- round trip free on Southwest with their frequent flier miles.
Hotels-
Wyndham Desert Resort at Harmon and Koval four nights free with Wyndham hotel reward points. This place is a timeshare with condo style apartments, full kitchen and separate bedroom and laundry in each apartment. Has a shuttle to Horseshoe.
Hyatt Place at Silverton five nights free with Hyatt points. Free breakfast daily.
Laughlin River Lodge- spent Friday and Saturday nights here to avoid strip prices. The other hotels I stayed at do not allow rooms to be booked on weekends with points. $75 each night with no resort fee. Gave a nice gift bag upon arrival with two small water bottles and five mini candy bars, just like the strip casinos (not).
Car rental for a week- Avis booked through British Air using their frequent flyer miles as I did not expect to use these miles any other way.
Odds and ends-
Talking to people waiting for the deuce bus said they had not been to Vegas in forty years. The guy asked me to explain what resort fees were so I assume he was right about how long it had been since he was here. And the bus was packed.
The next day when the deuce came there were three of them in tandem, so lots of room. Where were these yesterday?
Went to Hooters to use my LVA coupon 20% off. Did not use the slot coupon for Oyo as I disliked the newer slots there.
The lineup at the airport to take the shuttle to the car rentals was hundreds of people long but moved quickly, and it looked like most went to Avis. As could be expected, by the time I got out to the area where I pick up my car, it was nowhere to be found. After much agony I was given an upgrade of a Cadillac CTS.
Went to Palms to use the 50% coupon but at noon the lineup was a mile long and not moving so I left. Since the Hyatt Place at Silverton was close to South Point I went there for lunch buffets on weekdays, $20, great bargain and top quality.
Did not play the first week, after returning to Las Vegas from Laughlin I went to Slots o Fun, played a Blazing 7 $1 machine and dropped $160. Returned the next day and played a two-coin 25cent Top Dollat hitting the 1000-credit bonus for $250, grabbed my money and ran away.
Went to Silverton a couple times, usually got the carmel gelato, while chomping that down I watched a woman play a China Shores machine penny slot, went through $20, put another $20 in and shortly got the bonus round with 30 free games that payed her $2.18. Don't think I will ever play that game.
Had planned on getting around town with the rental car but there were so many major streets under construction I got tired of that battle and kept my touring short.
