For my sister's 11/11/11 birthday we decided it would be a lucky time to go to Vegas. My hubby, 2 sisters, nephew and a friend all went to Vegas for 5 nights. It is my 36th trip and we like to stay downtown. Had
3 free nights at Main Street Station with one free night at Harrahs and then we had to pay for a night at
the Plaza.
Flew Southwest which had great rates and the only non-stop flights from Omaha.
SHOWS: Saw Vinny Favorito the first night at Flamingo - He was hilarious and we all laughed through the whole show. He is not for everyone - makes fun of all types but we loved the show. While my hubby and nephew drank and played video poker us women went to Menopause the Musical at Luxor. I thought it would be funnier, had good reviews - the first half was boring and we were glad we got a discount on the tickets - it got better towards the end and had some funny parts - would not necessarily recommend and sure glad the guys did not go as my husband would have hated it. On last night - sister's birthday - 11/11/11 - we went to Marriage can be Murder at Fitzgeralds - it was good - the food was good and it
has some funny parts but probably would not go again. It was more fun with a group.
HOTELS: Stayed at Harrahs 1st night just because of free room. We play video poker so don't like staying on the strip but the room was nice. Next 3 nights at Main Street free and my hubby was in video poker tournament which he didn't do well at - we love this casino and the rooms are fine - nothing fancy but quick access and we like the smaller casino - last night was at the newly remodeled Plaza - the rooms were fantastic - easy to get to - but we didn't get a players card because there's very little playable video poker here.
GAMBLING:
MONDAY: Did terrible on the strip at Harrahs and Flamingo and never won anything. Gotta get downtown.
TUESDAY: A little better but still not a good day. Played mostly video poker at Main Street and Fremont.
I love the Pick Em machines at Fremont but they were not good to me this trip. All 6 of us got on a Blackjack table at Vegas Club and it was fun but none of us won anything. Put only $200 in the
winning envelope - which makes us down about $1,500 so far.
WEDNESDAY: Things are improving - We won $400 on the Multi Strike machines at El Cortez. My husband and I usually play together but we split up and I cashed out $200 on quarter bonus poker at MSS on
and then another $200 on Double bonus and then he went to bed early and I played for 2 hours on one Bonus poker machine and ended up adding another $100 to our winnings which pretty much made us
even for the day. So we are still down $1,500 after 3 days.
THURSDAY: There is a pattern here - each day gets better! My hubby goes down for coffee while I am getting ready and when he comes back I say "so there's my little black rain cloud - I did well without you last night and I have 9 scratch cards to prove it" (MSS gives scratch cards for all 4 of a kinds and we ended up cashing in about $75.00 worth of cards over the trip) So then he said I was a little black rain
cloud for him too as he just hit deuces on the Loose Deuces for $625. I couldn't believe it - great way to
start the day. So after breakfast we go back to the Loose Deuces of course and unbelieveably he hits
them again. So then we go over to the Fremont where the rest of our group are playing and try Pic Em which is still not hitting so my hubby sits on a goofy Jackpot Double Bonus that gives you a choice of 5 slot machines to choose from for any 4ok's. When I show up he has 4 2's on the screen for which he just got
500 quarters. So I sit down and not too very long after I am dealt 4 2's for another 500 quarters and then about 10 hands later I am dealt 3 2's and catch the 4th for 420 quarters - GEEZ it is our day for 2's!
Then my hubby gets Aces dealt to him! This machine was so much fun and we ended up cashing in
another $700 from this machine. Great day. After hubby went to bed I played for about 3 hours alone putting in another $100 for a total of $2,000 in the envelope (but we spent $1,000) so we are only down about $500 now for the trip.
FRIDAY: So of course my hubby wants to start at the Loose Deuces after breakfast - we run about a $100 through and I figure we are just throwing money away when he holds 2 deuces and lo and behold the other 2 pop up for another $625 - absolutely amazing. It's my sister's lucky 11/11/11 birthday so we all
put $50 in 2 side by side Megabucks machines and have big plans on splitting the $11 million jackpot but unfortunately that did not happen - biggest hit out of $300 was $20 - SAD. Today was a lucky day and
we hit Aces and several 4 oks to put $1600 in the envelope so we are up about $100 after 5 days.
SATURDAY: So our plane leaves at 3:40 and we figure we can gamble until 1:30. We check out of the Plaza find a quick breakfast and then head back to Main Street for our final few hours of gambling. We split up as hubby wants to hit Loose deuces again and I think there's no chance. I hit Aces on a Double bonus and he comes to join me and we hit a couple more 4 ok's but only put $100 in the envelope and keep a $100 back to play $.50 video poker. We can't get on either of 2 banks of machines that we
want because they are full so he picks one and I say I think it's an omen that we are on this one we
would not have normally played. OK are you ready for it? drum roll . . . . I hold the 10, J Q of clubs and
catch the Ace King! WOO HOO - we have 15 minutes before we have to leave for the airport! Get our
one and only W2 play off the rest of the credits and head home with over $2,000 more than we came
with. God I love this town.
Unfortunately, the rest of my group did not come home winners but they all hit some things slots - blackjack video poker, etc. and we all had a great time - laughed a lot, saw 3 shows, ate lots of buffets, and gambled, drank and smoked for many hours of fun. Can't wait to go back.
