25 Year Honeymoon Trip

After 25 years of marriage we finally made it to a honeymoon. LOL. This trip report is a little late coming but finally caught up with everything at work, home and our rental business.

Anyways--flew out on Southwest with no problems other than about a 30 minute delay (only landed about 15 minutes late). Car rental was smooth with a free up grade due to the shortage of available cars.

First 2 nights were spent at the Riv. We had never stayed there and with the blithe on that end of the strip thought we might want to try the place out just to say we stayed there. Oh and the free nights didn't hurt. Our room was much nicer than we expected, but we were not expecting much. The place was packed as there was a pool tournament going on. We later found out that they had overbooked by several hundred. First night tried out the food at Victoria Pub. Interesting food, friendly service and live band playing. During our stay at the Riv tried the following---circus circus free shows under the big top--very poor show. Comedy club at the Riv--almost peed my pants from laughing. buffet at the Riv--at least a 3 star yuck, poor selection. Pool at the Riv--nice, nothing fancy, but they have new cabanas--they have turned the old outside pool level rooms into cabanas. They look very nice.

Next 3 nights headed dt to stay at MSS. Same ole same ole there. Friendly home type service. Used the aloha book for our food (prices have gone up on that--was $2 for buffet now $3). While we there I did drive up to a get a massage at a small place that had a deal on travelzoo. Had never used travelzoo before and it worked out wonderful. Didn't enjoy Fremont as much as before. It just seems like it is getting trashy. Scary types hanging out, more panhandlers, more kids in strollers, trash all over the ground. I was surprised to see the long lines of 20 yr olds waiting to get into the clubs dt.

Next we headed to Laughlin for one night and our first stop on the race. Our room was ok. They first tried to put us in the family tower. Oh no to that. We got it changed right away. Cafe was ok. Drink service was the worst. You order with one girl, who put the order in on an ipad and another girl brings your drink around. Over half of our drinks were wrong or we never got them, and what bartender doesn't know the differnce between sloe gin and regular gin?? Next morning had breakfast at the Colorado Belle--using our ACG coupon it cost us a staggering amount of $4 for the both of us.

3 night at Planet Hollywood was our next stop. Stop 2 on the race. I tried telling hubby we shouldn't self park, but he didn't listen. You would think after 25 years he would know better. Got upgrade to a fountain view room which was nice. While there we tried out 2 more deals we got on Travelzoo. The first was at Besto--service was excellent, food good, but not sure if we would go there again. Very stuffy. Another night tried Comme Ca over at the Cosmo. It was wonderful, service was good, food wonderful. Chef was out greeting the guest and making everyone feel very welcome. French onions soup was to die. Tried our hand at winning free play at PH a couple of times. I hit the whammie every time, but hubby won $10 once and then next day hit for $100. One note about the rooms--hot water took for ever to get, but once you had it you were good.

For our final 2 night we tried out the Suncoast. Had never been there but called the host who offered us 2 free night. The pool and hot tub were really nice and were open starting at 7 am and didn't close till 9 pm. Booked a spa day the first day. They had a special going on--3 50 minute treatments for $149. Nice deal. Nothing fancy, no sauna, no tea or sandwiches, but the treatments we good and staff very friendly. Took advantage of the movies and scored 2 free tickets one night. Bring a jacket though it was really cold in there. Buffet was ok, but it was the exact same thing for lunch dinner for 2 days and the desserts were all dried out. Our room was very nice and large.

Gambling didn't go to bad. Hit enough 4 OAK's that didn't have to dip into the gambling budget. Hubby losses where light. Both budgets in tack so we should be able to go back this winter. Hubby is off finishing the Harrahs race along with one of our friends right now. They are hitting 3 more locations in the next couple of days which should put us at $450 each in comp $$'s.

Thanks for your report, sounds like you guys had a great time.
