35 days in Las Vegas rooms

Rooms

All of the rooms stayed in were at The Four Queens, the California, or Main Street Station.

Remodeled Rooms:

All of the Rooms at the California have been remodeled. At Main Street Station none of the rooms have been fully rmodeled. A few rooms at one end of the hall have a romodeled shower which replaces the old bathtub shower combination. Just about all of the rooms at the Four Queens have been remodeled, I think there still may be a few that still have the old bathtub/shower combination.

Other remodel comments: I think the dresser area is diifferent in the remodels at the Cal/MSS. I beleive the safe is different in the remodeled rooms as well. After the remodel all of the rooms at the Four Queens have refrigerators. These are quite a bit larger than the ones at the California/MSS. The T.V.'s are larger at the California/MSS than at the Four Queens. I beleive the Four Queens may have afew more channels than the California/MSS. (But who has time to watch T.V. anyway).

The Four Queens rooms always have a certain smell when you walk in in the room. Must be from the air freshner spray. The California/MSS have wooden shutters on the Windows so that the room will nver be 100% dark. The Four Queens has drapes so you can get the room real dark if you want to sleep. I bring a clothespin (From the days when people would hang their clothes outside to dry) to completely close the curtains.

I would say that the rooms at Main Street seem to be the largest, then the California, the smallest rooms seem to be at the Four Queens.

The new showers at the Four Queens are an odd looking contraption. I prefer the new showers at MSS.

One of the biggest considerations for me is how quiet is the room. For the Four Queens, ypu want a room in the tower closest to the check-in, on the inside if possible, and a little higher up. The California used to have quiet rooms in the new tower on the side facing the garage. I stayed there this year and it and the niose leval was bad. They were demolishing the Vegas Club during the day. Also while the Vegas Club was still there, it acted as a sound barrier for the Fremont Street at night. Noise at night and during the day. They have now leveled the Vegas Club, but who knows when new construction will start.

Latley I have been staying at MSS on the non-freeway side, a little higher up. Actually Idon't think it makes that much difference which side you stay on, because the air conditioner is so loud.

THe Four Queens has thicker bath towels than Boyd, but Boyds has thicker washcloths.

The shampoos are nicer at Boyd.

Boyd used to have nice laundry plastic bags in the rooms, now they are cheap and thin.

The Four Queens has coffee in the rooms, and a limited room service menu.

What I hate is people who when leaving the Four Queens, deliberately lock the room safe with nothing in it. Very rude and inconsiderate, as you need to call to have it unlocked.

If you find something wrong with you room, plaese call to have it fixed, so that the room will be in good condition for the next person. I called about a toilet seat at the Four Queens that would not stay up. This made for an interesting excercise when performing numer one. They replaced the seat, did still not function 100% but better than before. At MSS the refrigerator was not working. Found out the gasket was broken, so it did not close. Brought up new refrigerator. Still did not work, found out that it was not new, brought up new "used refrigerator" it did work. At this point milk and orange juice no good.

Toilet paper ay Boyd is O.K. Both toilet paper and kleenex at at the Four Queens is like sandpaper. Will bring my own next time.

Next final thoughts.

Good info , we always bring 2 rolls of toliet paper. We are back downtown after 10 years on strip.
