5-15-21 to 5-20-21 Trip Report Part 1 Airport Downtown

I arrived at the St. Louis airport after a four-hour drive. I made stops along the way so it took a little longer than usual.  The shuttle pulled up next to me as I was unloading and locking my car, so I can't complain. I have cleared security. I have about two hours until departure. At the moment I am trying to decide which of the two bars near my gate I am going to get a drink at.

That's not a bad situation to have to decide between bars before departure.

I’ll post a lengthy trip report soon but for now, I just want to say wow. I was skeptical of a solo trip, but I had the time of my life.  Oh, and everyone was so friendly. People of all ages came up and talked to me. I do not remember Vegas ever being that friendly.

I have nothing to complain about as far as accommodations. I enjoyed my stays at the Hotel Apache, Four Queens and the Flamingo.  I ended up spending a ton of time at the Casino Royal with their generous free drinks, friendly bartenders and nice slot club offer of $20 in free play for signing up and then $20 every time you lose $100. The rough number after three days of heavy VP was - $80 but I consumed $250+ in free drinks.  I met some amazing people.

I have the feeling that the Casino Royale promo could make even their shitty video poker +EV, but of course, that depends on exactly what the rules are. Do you have any details?

During my visit a couple of weeks ago, I also noticed that people were quite friendly...except for the 65,000 or so drunken louts who weren't. The actual friendly people were casino and restaurant staff, who were no doubt happy for the illusion of things being back to normal and covid having disappeared completely, at a wave of the casinos' magic wand.

I did observe a lot fewer people than usual smoking, which, given that Vegas is Stink-Stick City, was probably due to small sample size. Mask wearing, though still mandated at the time, was well below 25%. And yeah, people were partying like it was 2019. Everyone was paying the high prices and fading the high limits. Even the dust joints had $25 table minimums. While I stuck to my usual pattern of coupons and deals for my meals, it looked like just about all the restaurants had increased their prices 20-30%.

Vegas will be fun this summer, but woooo hoooo...bring money. Lots and lotsa money.

8/5 JOB not sure what the payout was on Duces Wild. I was there for the booze and friendly people at the bar. Plus, you got a lot more play out of your money vs the 6/5 JOB at the Ceaser's properties.  Yeah, I know what u mean about the food.  After two nights downtown, I was shocked the see how high food prices were on the strip. $27 for a cheeseburger at a pub on the Link Promoande who are they kidding? I had to put some effort into it but I found some cheap eats on/near the strip.

Good to know that Casino Royale still has that promo going!
