Grand Falls Casino is off the beaten track; tucked away in extreme northwest Iowa about 6 miles from Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The hotel room we had was very nice, flat screen TV, large bathroom and a very comfortable king sized bed. Towels were plush, had an in-room safe and a small refrigerator. We ate at the buffet on Sunday morning and they had a good variety of quality food to select from. I'd rate it much better than Harrah's or Flamingo's buffet in comparison. They have a non-smoking slot area on one side of the casino. Table games include roulette, craps, BJ, LIR and 3 card poker. The casino is done in earth tones; kind of reminds me of M Resort or Red Rock casino. A woman who was sitting down from me at the lounge bar, hit a $3000 jackpot while we were waiting for Gary Puckett to perform. It was really crowded; I bet I could have sold my seat at the bar for 50 bucks as there was limited seating in the lounge area. They do have an odd policy at the bar: You can only order one drink at a time(can't walk up and order a beer for yourself and one for your buddy) and they limit you to one drink every 20 minutes. This caused chaos the night we were there so they suspended the rules because of the large crowd. We played BJ on Sunday morning and nobody was winning anything. Gail switched tables to see if her luck would change, but to no avail. Gail and her two daughters have a "Girls gone Wild" weekend planned at Grand Falls at the end of the month...the band "Heart" is performing on June 30th.
I had not heard about Boyd taking over Diamond Jo's...haven't played there in several years.
