5th Anniversary LOVE Show...GREGRIO

WOW!...what a night. Lots of FUN, lots of CELEBS, LOTS OF PEOPLE!
This 5th Anniversary event was totally different than when the surviving
BEATLES, wives and families gathered five years ago to honor George Harrison
and John Lennon at (that was ALSO and amazing night) at the Mirage's LOVE
Theatre.

That night, Larry King was broadcasting his CNN Show LIVE from the 'Revolution Lounge'
where Paul, Ringo, and Yoko Ono Lennon were being interviewed...then, they led us all
through the interior/back hallways of the Mirage...through the backstage LOVE dressing
rooms and down the hallway into the LOVE Theatre where the audience !EXPLODED! in
cheers and applaud as they took their seats in SECTION 208, ROW N.

They all sat in the same SEC/ROW again this time..
(if that's not a good seating recommendation, I don't know what is, lol) HOWEVER...
this time, they all came in quietly and were sitting there ready to go at show time.
When I took my seat...THEIR seats were all marked in white 'RESERVED' signs but
I never even noticed 'em come in...very sneaky they were, lol.
It was earlier...during the press photos and interviews prior to the Show that everything
was so CRAZY! WILD! EXCITING!!!

I didn't anticipate any of this...Like the fist time, I figured all the interviews and photo oppts
would be over...I had my ticket...and I'd just walk into the Show like I'd always done...
BOY, WAS I IN FOR A SURPRISE! lol.

The Show was at 7:00, I got there at 5:00 and figured I'd play some video poker before showtime.
I cabbed over to the backside of the Mirage...the entrance right by Registration.
That entire area was filled with.......LOVE!
The display cases are all filled with costumes, Show photos and memorabilia...
L O V E is spelled out in six foot tall, free standing letters in the middle of the lobby floor,
all painted yellow with the red images of The BEATLES falling through the air, like on the
LOVE logo. (those images are taken from 'A HARD DAYS NIGHT' for those of you too young to remember, lol)

The closer I got the the Mirage front doors, you could tell this wasn't your normal five o'clock in
the afternoon crowd.
As soon as I passed through the 'rain forest', I was met with a WALL OF PEOPLE!
There was a line that stretched from the front of the LOVE box office, all the way
back towards the rain forest. Another line branched off of that around the 'pit' tables
that are off to the side of the LOVE gift shop...across from the Baccarat and High Limit
Lounge. That area was all roped off and was where the large, traditional property themed
'back drop' was hung...with all the logos of LOVE, Mirage, APPLE Music printed on it, waiting
for folks to stand in front of and have their pictures taken.

Television camera crews, reporters, photographers, all juggled for positions...waiting for
the SPECIAL GUESTS and local entertainers to arrive. (Criss Angel, Carrot Top, Matt Goss,
Terry Fator, Kerry Simon I recognized, lots of other folks I didn't...) IT WAS A ZOO!

NORM from VEGAS CONFIDENTIAL made his way through the crowd and took his place
up front...Robin Leach arrived, picked up his 'PRESS PASS' necklace badge and itinerary
program from the Press table...then took is place next to Norm Clarke.
(amusing side note...to me at least, lol) After the Show, I talked to Robin Leach. He was
waiting outside one of the Restrooms inside the LOVE Theatre for his date. We talked
about when he'd be getting his pics posted on his website www.vegasdeluxe.com (lots of
stuff there now...check 'em out)
Anyway, all the while we're talking, he's checking his damn cell phone and complaining
?WHY? women have to take so long in the Restroom!

SHOWTIME!........
The large 'announcer character' in the Show greets us and reminds everyone of the usual
..."no pictures during the Show" bla bla bal, then he introduces all the SPECIAL GUESTS.
PAUL McCARTNEY, and fiance NANCY SHEVELL, OLIVIA HARRISON and son DHANI,
YOKO ONO LENNON and son SEAN,and BEATLES producer GEORGE MARTIN and son GILES.
RINGO was still in Europe and recorded a video message they played on the big screens
in the showroom.

LOVE is probably my favorite Show these days...It's my generation, my music and memories.
It's always a great Show but it was exceptionally good this night.
There was that...EXTRA MAGIC in the air.
All the Artists were giving it their all to insure their special guests that night were totally
entertained and then some! Many of the cast members were new and hadn't performed in
front of Paul McCartney when he was there five years ago, so they were VERY excited! The
entire evening was just VERY, VERY COOL!

After the closing scene, Paul, Olivia, Yoko...EVERYBODY was on the stage. They passed the
mics around, everyone said their hellos and thanked the audience...
I had a great front SEC 106/ROW D seat...real close to 'em...I couldn't have been more pleased.

If you've seen the Show...remember the large screens that drop down around the stage? they're
down during the end of the Show with video projected on them of The BEATLES.
Folks were getting out of their seats, lifting the screens up to get closer to the stage. Paul and
Yoko talked and 'high five'd' folks close to them...cameras were going off right 'n left and
then...with his fist pumping in the air, Paul yells out..."LETS HEAR IT FOR THE BEATLES!"
As the crowd roared, they all said their good nights and walked off stage...WHAT A NIGHT.

I also checked out LE REVE over at Wynn again...MAN! what a change in that Show.
It's been a couple years I guess since I'd had my latest update and it's REALLY NEAT NOW!
There were several completely new routines to me and a couple that were very, very cool.
The lighting also was wonderful! The projections they put on the floor, the lights in the air,
on the water, IN the water were brilliant. The pace moves quickly and there's a lot more
variety in the scenes...I FINALLY REALLY LIKE LE REVE.

I chose one of the VIP seats this time up top. They've changed the layout up there...The small
counter top tables have been taken out...just a big comfy chair and the video screens now. The reason
I chose that area this time is because they now offer VIP seats WITH OUT the champagne and
chocolate covered strawberries (didn't need that...) They're still expensive though...$178.75 but
well worth it if you've seen the Show before. You ARE looking between the video and the stage so
if you've never seen LE REVE before, maybe best to view it from one of the upper level seats first,
then a VIP if you want to see it a second time, I DO (actually it'll be the 5th time...) I've kept track
if Show off 'n on since it opened and this is the best version yet that I've seen!

I had a real good stay at the RIO. Everything is up 'n running...Cafe closes at noon, pool was busy,
casino was busy...The WSOP is going on yet you didn't notice it much. The players stayed down at
the Convention Center end most of the time.

The casino IS busier and they hired back a couple of my favorite 'Change' folks they let go 2 years ago.
AND...a nice surprise while talking to one of them. 'Flo' said..."honey, why are you using that old card?"
(she meant my GOLD Total Reward Card) I dropped to GOLD last year because I quit playing their slots
due to the reduced/poor payouts. I also don't notice my tier score much either because of it BUT...after
Flo brought it to my attention...I had well over 4000 points so, I EXCHANGED MY GOLD FOR PLATINUM AGAIN.

I came 4 to a ROYAL several times but was DENIED! EACH TIME ON THE 5th card, lol.
I did get lots of quads and 3 of a kind to keep me playing and brought half my bankroll home...good trip!
Next trip is in July...OVER 'N OUT.
p.s.
I wanted another BABY'S BAD ASS BURGERS from the hamburger wagon set up inside of the
ABSINTHE courtyard. Twice I stopped by...(they had Shows going both nights...) and twice the
the hamburger wagon was closed...no one knew why. What I know however is... I won't try again!
Thanks Gregrio for another excellent report and show review (especially for the very special LOVE show that you got to see)!

Wow, what a great night of star gazing, Greg!
And, chattin' with Robin Leach?
He still alive? Wha'd his "date" look like? Nosey minds want to know.

Glad Flo brought you back into Platinum territory!

Thanks for the replies folks...

There's lots of pics on Robins sight www.vegasdeluxe.com
(maybe a pic in there some place of his 'date' also, lol)

Lots of great pics of McCartney's MGM concert AND

'click' A&E up top and then THE KATS REPORT.
FAbULOUS REPORT! WHAT A NIGHT! Thanks for sharing and for the news about Le Reve. I saw it two summers ago. MIGHT be interested in seeing it again based on what you said.

Glad you had such a great trip, including seeing "Flo" and having her look out for you.
WOW GREG!!!! - That would be soooooooo awesome to see the "Beatles" and in their own "venue". Were tickets extra expensive for this affair? How fun - i'd of loved to be there. I've never seen any of them in person. That is so cool that they took to the stage at the end! Thanks so much for sharing this electrifying evening!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Gail
Tics were the regular price Gail and...from what I've heard,
the Mirage sent out over 400 comp invites but only had
200 seats available.
Many folks called but were told it's sold out.
Many folks have a very bad taste in the mouths now for the Mirage.
I just read a note about it in the RJ...called and booked my ticket.
amazing! What a night- a dream for an entertainment junkie!!
Thank you for the cool first hand account.
wozwer~~~~ divine deets/ thanks kiddo!!!
aren't you glad you got there so early?!?!!
YES!, I am... and wasn't going to either.
