60th Birthday, Downtown at 4 Queens (cont)

Oops, didn't mean to post until final.

Sunday Nov 8 (cont)

Too early to check in so we have Bloody Mary's and gambled at the bar at the 4 Q We had a late breakfast at the Magnolia BW ham and eggs and MJ eggs and English muffin, MJ free because it was her birthday. We checked in at 1PM we were given 1430, BW wants to give thanks to RecVPPlayer for giving thumbs up on 4 Q rooms. The room was all we could expect, clean, large enough, quite and close to the elevator. We unpacked and went back down for drinks and gambling.

We saw a fantastic light show honoring the USA and Veterans. During the day an elderly lady, older asked BW when he had his hip surgery because he was walking similar to the way she walked, and she had had her surgery two months before. BW answered "no ma'am I walk this way all of the time." After the lady walked away MJ was hysterical with laughter. We gambled for awhile and at the 4 Q, the D and Binions, MJ hit three
4 OK all at the D, four twos, one dollar double, double bonus, four 8's .50 bonus and 4 threes .50 bonus, BW had 0 for the day then we went up for the night at 10PM

While waiting for the elevator, an elderly lady asked MJ to help her read her room number on her check in info. MJ told her room 459, again on the way up she asked again "sugar what is my room number?" MJ room 459. As she gets off the elevator she looks at MJ and MJ says softly room 459. We actually worried that night about this sweet lady getting to her room.

We got to our room and ordered room service. Champagne for the birthday girl and a appetizer plate for her and a shrimp plate for BW. Since we were up at 2AM Austin time, and it was creeping up midnight Vegas time we were two tired kids and ready for bed we sure love Vegas.

Monday, November 9

We can't sleep late, up at 8AM and ordered a pot of coffee from room service. Only $11.00 compared to $30.00 at Flamingo. (wow!). BW had his breakfast bars. We were out of the room at 10AM. We had Bloody Mary's at the Vue Bar at the D. We were served by our bartender Diego. We noticed all during our trip that the Sigma Derby was continuously busy and the crowd was always loud. We gambled and then had two naked hot dogs at the D the American Coney Island. They were good but the best is "James Coney Island" in Houston, Texas. We went to Walgreens to pick up coffee maker and other supplies and we dropped them off in our room. We ate dinner at Binions and both had burgers and fries and both were very good. We asked the wait person about Clancy from Minn. who was working the hamburger bar when we were Downtown 13 years ago, she said he still works there in the Employee Dining Room. During the day we gambled at the
4 Q, Binions, Mermaid, La Bayou and Golden Nugget. Upon picking up our cards at the Golden Nugget they were showing our old address from 2003 (good records). For the day, MJ hit 4 7's $1.00 at Binions, BW hit 3 3's .50 double double at the 4 Q. For the first two days we have had no major hits on the slots. We were up at 10 PM Vegas time ,too tired but happy kids.

Tuesday, November 10

We were up at 7:00 AM, coffee and bars in the room out at 10:00 AM. Forecast was for high winds all day long. Bloody Mary's at 4 Q we met our new bartender, Alan from Bosnia, who was very attentive and nice to us. We had lunch at McDonalds at the D, burgers and fries. While gambling that afternoon at the 4 Q we met Ray a 84 year old school teacher from Canada and his 40 year old son from Denver Colorado who attended the University of Denver on a Hockey scholarship. We really enjoyed our conversations with them. For the day MJ $200 on the slot Survivor, 4 10's $1.00 double double and the Queen, 4 7's dollar bonus at the D, 4 2's dollar bonus at the D. BW hit 4 5's .25 double double at the D, 4 7's dollar double, double at the D. We headed up to the room at 9 PM a large group of people were waiting for the elevator. A sweet little lady was carrying a carton of soda, a cane and trying to get her room key out of her purse when she poked BW with her cane just below his belly button, she snickered and apologized and said "I didn't mean to poke a man". The crowd and particularly MJ cracked up laughing. (Is BW like Charlie Brown, that everybody picks on him...No) What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Having a great time. We love Downtown!

Wednesday November 11
Veterans Day
Bobby White S/Sgt.
USAF 1959-1967

Local TV Station announced the Veterans Day Parade which is the second largest in the USA, the only one larger is New York. We were out of the room t 10AM and had Bloody Mary's at the 4 Q, Alan still doing a good job. We met and talked some fantastic Vets all day long. God Bless America. On Freemont Street an Army Sargent singing with a fantastic voice, BW stopped and spoke with him and thanked him for his service. He was taking donations for the USO, what a good organization. Lunch, hot dogs and French fries again. We gambled at the 4 Q, Binions, D, Plaza and Golden Gate. BW hit 4 Jacks dollar bonus at the D, straight flush $1.00 bonus at Golden Gate and we watched an entertaining light show (1970's hippy music) on Freemont Street. Went to the room at 8 PM. Still having a good time.

Thursday, November 12

Last full day in Vegas is always a sad day. We were up at 7 AM and had a room service breakfast in the room. BW French Toast and MJ eggs and English muffin with coffee. We were out of the room by 10 AM to buy gifts for kids and our two beautiful granddaughters. BW picks up a $100. 3 team parlay for himself and son-in-law and bets for a friend on football games. (BW and son-in-law missed 3 team parlay by U of H not covering. Friend made an $18.00 profit on his $150 bets. We had Bloody Mary's at the 4 Q and gambled there the D and the Golden Gate. Today was our day to have some luck. After the Bloody Mary's at the Q we went to the D to gamble. BW hit 4 9's twice on .50 bonus, then was dealt the A and J of spades which he held and was dealt the 10,Q and K of spades resulting in a .50 Royal $2000. (super wow) at about the same time MJ was playing a penny slot China Shores andon a $20. investment received originally 375 free spins and during the process received in excess of 500 free spins for a net profit of $850. Again wow! nice day! We ate at DuPars BW turkey and dressing, MJ country steak food was good however would have fed 4 people. Our wait person Aida provided the best service we have seen in a long time. We got to go Cinnamon Rolls that were huge and delicious. We went to the room at 9PM.

Friday, November13

We were up at 7AM and had coffee the cinnamon rolls from the night before. We checked out and stored our bags and had Bloody Mary's at the Q. Gambled there and at the D. BW hit 4 5's .25 double double at the D. More shopping for granddaughters, hot dogs at the D. We took a taxi to the airport at 5:00. Never leave for the airport at 5:00 in the future. So much traffic. We ate at Wendy's at the airport. We had boarding passes A35 and A36 row 8 right side window and isle seats. Flight half full. Arrived home at 12:30 AM. Great trip and thank you for reading.

Bobby and Martie

* Southwest more expensive but more choice of times.

* Thanks againRecVPPlayer for 4 Q advise. Loved Downtown will stay there next time.

* Food was okay but much cheaper than strip.

*Bartenders, Alan at 4 Q. and Roy and Antuan at the D super service.

*Music downstairs at the D is brutal.

*Came back with 70% of our gambling budget.

Thank you Bobby for your report as well as for your military service and you're very welcome for the 4 Queens advice!

I've always found the hotel rooms to be functional and that's really all that has mattered to me (as well as decent enough returning VP and a not bad slot club)!

Congratulations on your $2k Royal and MJ's $850 Slot Profit and that's great that you guys returned with 70% of your gaming budget!

And I'm happy that you could see that Downtown LV has better prices for many things than the Strip and I agree with you that the music downstairs at the D is brutal.

And Fremont Street is definitely lively and I do like seeing the Viva Vision Light Shows. More information about them is on the
https://www.vegasexperience.com website!

I enjoy your reports- thanks for posting and your sense of humor.

Great TR Bobby! Glad you both had such a great time downtown.

Sounds like you had a great time; thanks for the report. I too am warming up to what downtown has to offer.
Thanks for the great report Bobby and thank you for your service!
James Coney Island, I haven't had one of those I years. Mom lived in Sharpstown and used to take us there.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments and suggestions, Martie and I love our Vegas trips and I enjoy keeping notes and writing trip reports, (I'm such a HAM) I also agree with TECramer and wish we had, more Trip Reports on Las Vegas Advisor. On our return flight we discussed making a trip to Vegas for Christmas since we were returning home with 70% of our gambling budget, upon checking we noted none of the airfares were reasonable or inexpensive, but noted on Casino International there was a flight from Austin to Laughlin, Nevada Jan4-8, 2016, with 4 nights at Harrahs for a grand total of $129. On a negative the flight goes from Austin to Shreveport, La. to Laughlin, but at that price we booked it. We have been to Laughlin on similar charter flights 5 times and on our last trip in Oct 2013 came back with 80% of our gambling budget. Laughlin is not Vegas and a large % of people are seniors like me, but we always enjoy ourselves and gamble at The Riverside, Aquarius and other casinos besides Harrahs, the River Taxi and land Taxis are reasonable. This will be our first time flying on Sun Country as previous flights were on Allegiant. So long story short 28 days until VIVA Laughlin and another Bobby & Martie Trip Report.
Sun Country is great - I've flown them from Minneapolis to Las Vegas and back many times. Excellent service.
