Day 3 was moving day but we weren't in a a big hurry. We had our comped room for the whole trip @ Paris but in March I got an email from Mandalay for 2 nights in either a spa suite or great room suite. Since we used to pretty much only stay @ MGM properties until they changed their players club and stopped showing us love (aka free rooms) since we were only gold players, I thought we might ought to take advantage of the free suite. My confirmation showed we were reserved in a great room suite. I knew check in wasn't til 3 so we had time to play @ Paris before checking in. We decided to have an early lunch @ Sugar Factory, then we went back to the ABC store for more diet dr pepper to take with us to Mandalay since it's another Pepsi hotel. By the time we get back to the room, it has been cleaned so we get our stuff packed up then go down to the casino to play. Back to my cherry machine where I finally accumulate enough points to move platinum, yea! Hubby goes to play roulette.
About 3 we hop in a cab to check in @ Mandalay. We didn't take our bags since I didn't want to have to check them in case our room wasn't ready, we also had a dinner res @ Mastro's so we figured we'd change @ Paris. We get to Mandalay and the line to check in is nearly as long as the on @ Paris was on Friday. This one moved quickly as well. When we got the desk we were told since we were gold players we could have checked in @ VIP, live and learn. I said we were there for my b-day and wanted to go to the Shark reef since we haven't been so she told me to charge it to the room and she'd comp it. That was nice. They didn't have any smoking great room suites so darn, they had to put us at THEhotel. We go check out the room then go to play hubby's favorite $1 top dollar machines that are over by Raffles Cafe. Well WERE. They had been there for years so we went in search of them. Found half of them right @ the entry from Mandalay Place and the other ones close to the craps tables. Played awhile, then cabbed to Bellagio to check out the conservatory. Had a mad crazy driver, glad we made it safe and sound.
Has anyone noticed the different vibe @ Mandalay, everyone seems tired down there...no energy.
Went back to Paris to change for dinner @ our favorite restaurant, Mastro's Ocean Club. We've been going there every visit since my last b-day. Last fall one of the managers gave me his card so now I just pop an email to him and he takes care of our reservation for us. We got there @ 7:30 and were seated in the tree house and Jonathan proceeded to take good care of us. We always eat too much when we go there and this time was the same. You can order a smaller version of most of the salads on their menu so we both got small salads. I ordered a glass of Kim Crawford sauvignon blanc, hubby tea, he doesn't drink wine. I thought I wanted the filet but I saw they had halibut so I changed my mind, hubby ordered a steak, KC strip or NY, he can't remember. We splurged and split the lobster mashed potatoes. Both our meals were delicious and the potatoes were decadent! I had a second glass of wine......oops, made me tipsy, that's ok, this was my b-day dinner. After our plates our cleared I ordered coffee and Jonathan brought out a warm butter cake with happy birthday written on the plate. Last year they brought this large slab of rich chocolate cake that was really good. When hubby and I ate there last September for no special occasion we ordered this warm butter cake for dessert. It was VERY good and I must have mentioned to Patrick in an email how much I liked it since that's what I got for my b-day. Mastro's has the best service and really good food, we've never been disappointed. It was a great birthday dinner.
We went back to Paris to change back into comfy clothes and went and found Andy @ Ballys. Tonight he was @ roulette so we bought in and played for a few hours until this guy came up and sort of took things over. He was very aggressive and put down bets after they said no more bets. The dealer kept giving him back the bets he'd made when he wasn't supposed make them, you would have thought after 3 or 4 times he would have learned. He didn't so we cashed out and hubby went to play his top dollar in the high limit area and I went up front ton play breakfast @ tiffanys. Hubby got to platinum so we decided we'd go get our bags from Paris and move to Mandalay. It was about midnight when we went to the cab stand and the driver said, "airport?" and we said no, THEhotel. We didn't really unpack since we were checking out at the crack of dawn Tuesday so we just got out clothes and stuff for Monday. We went and wandered around Mandalay awhile, he played top dollar, I played the new Michael Jackson penny slot. I put $20 in and on my second spin got a bonus that paid $80. Nice, but not enough to stop the bleeding! We went to bed around 1:30...happy birthday to me....that's what the machine told me when I put my card in.
Tomorrow, last day.
