Today's my b- day. Next year I'll be "half a hundred" as my hubby likes to say. We had breakfast at Raffles, really like having the express comps on the mLife card, not having to use valued gambling dollars to eat! Raffles isn't the best coffee shop around but have a pretty good pancake stack that comes w/2 eggs, 2 bacon and 2 sausage. Random odd thought, why do restaurants serve 3 pancakes? America @ NYNY has all u can eat pancakes and hubby asked for 2 more one day they said they had to bring him 3..... Hmmm.
We went to the shark reef after breakfast. There were tons of kids running around but it was an interesting tour. I wanted to see the Komodo dragon and he was pretty much the first thing we saw. The octopus was neat and it was weird to walk through the tunnel where the fish are swimming over your head. I tried to take pictures but seemed to get a lot of flash glare. Not that I would post them, I was barely able to post my profile picture on Facebook! It didn't take as long to go through as I thought it would. I'm glad then girl @ check in comped it, we can put it on our been there done that list.
We had to go back to Paris to check out so we hopped in a cab and made a run through of the room to make sure we hadn't forgotten anything. I wanted to play the penguin machine before we went back to Mandalay (since they took theirs out last year), you know the one, when you get the bonus the penguins slide down and say "wheeeeee" like the little pig on the Geico commercial. There wasn't one available so we just left. We didn't do much rest of the afternoon, chilled in the room.
We decided to play 3 card @ Mandalay and found a table with a few players. Remember I mentioned the vibe on my last report? The dealer and pit crew were older people, very laid back, and I'll say it....slow. We played a few hours and got bored so we decided to look for a place for dinner so we started walking through Mandalay Place thinking if nothing looked interesting, the coffee shop @ Luxor is always good. Hubby suggested Mexican, which we've never had, we're from Austin and have Mexican food all the time. We ended up @ T&T in Luxor. It wasn't bad and we used express comps.
We walked out the front door of Luxor to see the playing card Chriss Angel put in the glass in the 4th year of Mindfreak, then walked outside back to Mandalay. As nursery/landscape people, we're always checking out the landscaping when we go to Vegas. It is funny to see the little bits of artificial turf worked in.
Hubby went back to his top dollar machines, I found a $1 triple double wild cherry and put $100 in and cashed out @ $360..still NOT up for this trip! I bounced around the pennies, then we decided to head to the room and turn in early. We had a 4:30 wakeup call and presidential was picking us up @ 5:45 for the airport. I hate to fly that early but we had to get hope to pick then dog up from the puppy spa before they close.
Final thoughts -love the location of Paris, easy to get where you want to go on foot. Paris housekeeping A+
Mastro's Oceans Club -THE BEST
Players cards saying happy birthday every time you put it in a machine - very cool
Mandalay - nice, but it's gotten boring
Mlife express comps and TR reward credits, nice to have for use on meals
TR Platinum - finally! Now my sister can't gloat about hers
Traveling with my hubby, my favorite travel companion. Bless his heart, he's then biggest trooper. It seems his only winning trips are when we go during college football, yet he goes with me two other times a year. So when's the next trip? Sept., 3-4 weeks into college football season!
Thanks for following and thanks to all who post.
