Trip started early with a nice surprise. We were flying out of Austin on the afternoon flight on July 6. Thursday night our nephew sent hubby a text of the picture of his room overlooking the pool @ Caesars. Hubby texted back saying we would be in town @ 4 the next day. Nephew called and we told him we were staying @ Paris and we'd call him when we got checked in. Flight left a few minutes early and we got there 15 minutes or so early. Our driver from Presidential was waiting for us, we picked up our bags and were off to Paris. We arrived to the longest check in line I've ever seen. It wound back and forth in front of the check in, then along the back wall and down then hall be the bathrooms. I went to stand in line and gave hubby his players card and told him I'd wait in line. There was a convention checking in and I think everyone got there when we did. The line went quickly, I was at the check in within 35 minutes.....too bad we didn't reach Platiinum in April, we wouldn't have had to wait so long....won't have that problem next time, made Platinum on my b-day. I got ton the desk and said, judging from the line, I bet there's no complimentary red room upgrade for my birthday like last year and she said afraid not, but gave us a nice "P" room with a great fountain view. Also they haves changed the beds in some of those rooms since our last P room stay in Sept.
Nephew calls and comes over so we head to Planet Dailes @ P Ho for a bite. Don't know why, but we always eat there the first day. Food is good but service is terrible, not just occasionally but consistently! We're going to re-think our first day dining choice in the future. After a trip to the ABC store in the miracle mile for diet dr pepper (Paris is a pepsi hotel....yuck)' we drop our purchase off in the room and it's off to find my pit boss friend @ Ballys. We say hello, then go to the high limit slots for our favorite games, hubby the top dollar and me the cash king. After losing our first $200 it's time to teach the nephew 3 card poker. We go to the party pit and buy in. We get to listen to Taylor Hicks in the Indigo Lounge and at the end of the show they opened the curtains and we could see him sing the last song. After several hours of 3 card, nephew finishes with his buy in, I had all of mine and hubby had none of his. That would be the theme of the weekend for him I'm afraid. We left the table, my purse heavier with the 7 decks of cards the dealer gave us throughout the night. Nephew goes back to Caesars and we head back to Paris. I have to play my favorite machine @ Paris before bed, $1 triple double wild cherry. This machine was my friend in Feb., wanted to see is she remembered me! Lucky for me, she did and I went to bed $500 up. Nice way to start a trip. Off to bed, later than we'd planned but that's ok, we're on vacation!
More tomorrow, I'm afraid this ones going to be long....
