7 Day Adventure

Day One: departed Appleton, Wisconsin via Allegiant Airlines direct to Vegas. The flight and crew were excellent. The pilots were great as they changed altitudes to avoid turbulence. Some don't and this causes a very rocky flight sometimes. Anyways, got into Vegas at 8;45 pm and it was 'off to the races” get to the Rental Car Center and then to the hotel. This time things were much slower than in the past. Had to push the Wife (she had a massive stroke in 2010) from the Airplane to the baggage area and then help her walk to the RC Bus.

At Hertz our reserved car, a Nissan Versa had a cracked windshield when we got in it and I went to the Hertz VIP area and told them and they were very nice and gave us an upgrade to a Hyundai Elantra. A very nice car with plenty of leg and head room for those of you looking to buy a new car. The gas mileage was great as we drove around Vegas all week and only used $22 worth of gas.

We drop our car off at the MC Valay and head to the front desk to find out that there were no high floor strip rooms available until the next day and we were given a room on the 8th floor facing the pool and the new Aria, Cosmopolitan City Center buildings. The room and view were very nice as we got to see the newest strip buildings.

Day Two: woke up early at 6 am to start our day. We went to the SP played slots and ate the Lunch Buffet. Stopped at Capriotti's across from the SP to get a couple of the worlds best subs (our opinion) to place on ice for our evening meal. (We always take along two soft cooler bags one for drink ice and the other one for food.) On our way back to the MC, we stopped at the Food For Less and bought some snacks, soda and cookies.

Back at the MC our high floor strip view room still wasn't ready so we took our afternoon nap. At 4 pm the front desk called and said that our room was ready so I went down to the front Lobby and had to stand 30 minutes in line to get our reserved room. Not happy about this but chalked it up to a day in Vegas. Requested a room facing North on the strip toward the Mirage but got one facing NYNY and the MGM. Looks like the MC'S views toward the North Strip have been eliminated due to the new buildings next door that are very high and built right up to the street as the MC rooms are located some distance back from the street.

Because my wife has limited mobility and I don't drink and drive at night, we were stuck at the MC and NYNY every night. The gambling was terrible all week as we Lost and lost more. We didn't see anyone win anything substantial any place we went. I won $60 playing the Party Machine at the SP and the wife's highest pay out was $12 at the MC.

Day Three: it was off the the Sun Coast for some gambling and a Lunch Buffet. They have some of the best fried Chicken in Vegas always crispy and tender. Lost $100 + had a few drinks ate Lunch and headed back to the MC.

Day Four: we headed out to Texas Station to get some of the made to order Hamburgers on the Lunch Buffet. The food was excellent but the gambling was terrible. Had a few drinks, gambled and went back to the MC.

Day Five: off to the SP to use the Breakfast coupon we printed off on the LVA website. We stayed at the SP when it first opened as the South Coast and like to frequent this place. Had a few drinks, ate Lunch and lost more money gambling.

Day Six: out to Alliante Station in North Vegas to have a few drinks, gamble and eat Lunch. We stayed here when it first opened and like the drive and atmosphere at this place.

Day Seven: our last day we use our Player Card points at the MC to get two free dinner buffets.

We have been going to Vegas for many years and always enjoy the desert climate, the mountains and friendly people. Being from a small city in Wisconsin, we treasure our trips to Sin City.
Despite the losses, sounds like you and Mrs. J had a wonderful time in Vegas. Thank you for sharing.
My friend has limited mobility also, and always reserves and rents one of those electric scooters when she goes to Vegas. It works well for her.
Thank you for the report.
Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Sorry about having a losing trip, but there's always next time, right? We'll have to try Capriotti's on our next trip. We always stop at South Point at least once.

Enjoyed your trip report. Sounds like you had a good time with the exception of losing, unfortunately that is one of the bad things about Vegas. Does Appleton make fire trucks? My grandfather was a fire chief at one time and I remember him bringing fire truck home from Wisconsin and Appleton sounds familiar. Hopefully your next trip will be a winning trip!
Darcie:

We had a wonderful time as Vegas is like a different world to us. Pierce Manufacturing, a Division of Oshkosh Truck Corporation makes Fire Trucks that are shipped all over the world.
Jasper,
Very nice Trip Report.
You really got to visit quite a few of the "locals" casinos which I've never been to,
and although kind of a Strip casino, ............ I must get to the South Point someday too.

"we were stuck at the MC and NYNY every night"
That free tram from the MC to NYNY also would have taken you north to Aria and the Bellagio.

Thanks for taking the time to write and share your Trip Report. I really enjoyed reading it.

Nice TR...thanks for sharing!

Rock'n Rick,

Thanks for the nice comments.

My Wife's mobility is bad and she is stubborn and won't get a scooter to get around. Getting to a Tram is not possible with her walking using a Cane. This is why we were stranded at the MC and NYNY at night.
Thanks, Jasper for the report on your adventures in LV!

It sounds like you both had a decent time getting away from Wisconsin inspite of your unfortunate gaming losses!

As for the scooters, I hear great things about them that they can really help people with mobility issues. Hopefully your wife will have a change of heart about that (at least while in LV since that could help you both get about even more).
