Adventures of a Bargainista in her happy place Day 2

Day 2 – Saturday – Supplies/Downtown/Rio
When we are in Vegas I have a problem with sleeping in because I am just so excited to be on vacation, Hubby loves to sleep in and leisurely wake up and get going for the day. I am so glad the pool opens early, I am up at 6:30 and at the pool by 7:00, spend time doing laps and reading my kindle and relaxing until hubby is up and finished with his run on the treadmill. Get ready and off to Smith’s for supplies and pick up tickets for our show Tuesday. Grab mixers, snacks, and breakfast sandwiches for the freezer. Stop at Lee’s for our bar. Get back and put way the groceries make a drink and hit the shuttle to Harrah’s. Another great thing about Vegas is all the options for transportation, we will never drink and drive but in Vegas you don’t need to. You have free shuttles, RTC buses, and cabs. Hubby drives for a living and enjoys letting someone else drive us around sometimes. We catch a RTC express and we are Downtown by noon. First stop, Four Queens Players club to get cards, we are new sign ups and will get $10.00 free play after we earn 10 points, We got our free deck of cards, voucher for Win Cards, and our coupon for BOGO lunch at Magnolias. We both had the Rib eye steak, very good lunch, we will be back. It took only a few minutes to get the points needed for free play. We were also able to use the MRB coupon for $1 0.00 free play at the same time and I had hubby load it on his card. Sat down a played for a long time but eventually lost my free play and half my bankroll for the day. Hubby cashed out even and I was ready to try the win cards. I have never played craps and I have read up trying to understand the game, I played only my promo chips, I lost and left the table more confused after a gentleman at the table wanted to teach me how to play and told me I should do exactly opposite everything I read. I ignored him but still lost quickly. Please guys, if you see a woman walk up to a table she is not asking you to tell her how to play just because she is a girl. If get a question, any question that is your opening to help us. If I turn my back on you and ignore you I do not require you to continue your explanation of why everything I am doing is wrong. Off to Roulette, we both buy in and I quickly lose again, really, never even hit a black or a red. Meanwhile hubby manages to play and once again cash out even.

Off to Fitzgerald’s, I want to see Kevin Burke in Fitz of laughter. We saw Defending the Caveman at Harrah’s in May and love the show. Sign up for the players club and look for the box office. MRB in hand I ask for two tickets, punk kid says $47.00, what, tickets are 29.99; punk kid said MRB coupon is only good for VIP. I ask what do I get for VIP, punk kid said “you get a better seat”; I ask if it comes with a drink or anything else and explain I don’t want a better seat. He said sorry you have to pay for VIP. I took the coupon and left. I got outside and reread the back of coupon and it says “offer valid for regular or VIP pricing category”. I was so irritated I did not want to see the show any longer that night and we decided to see Penn and Teller instead. You see it was only a few dollars difference I price and I would not have had a problem paying for the VIP ticket if there would have been a value in doing so but in this case I could not see a reason to do so for this. We have always had better luck with paying regular price and tipping for a better seat instead when we can. The plan was to spend the rest of the night until the show playing downtown. Well I didn’t drop one red cent at Fitzgerald’s, it may have been only $12.00 dollars or so difference but I don’t like feeling like someone is trying get away with something. Downtown has a more casual feel and I would have felt fine staying all day and going to a show but I like to get a little more dressed up for a show on the strip. Back on the bus, quick trip to Harrah’s, back on the shuttle to Wyndham and freshen up. All that and we are at RIO in just over an hour.
We have 3 hours until the show so Hubby jumps in line for the buffet and I go to the box office to buy tickets, I use the BOGO coupon from the MRB and the girl is so sweet she, shows me where my seats are and lets me know she has us as low she can get. They turned out to be great seats. I get back to hubby and he hasn’t moved, same place as when I left. UGGGG. I have been in this line before, same spot and it took 45 minutes so to get through. It took 2 ½ hours to get through the line tonight. I wish we would have gone anywhere else; this buffet has gone so far down hill it now compares to Sahara’s buffet IMO. Penn and Teller were great, the show was as good as we expected.

Magnolias Saved $12.00
Rio World Buffet saved $25.00
Penn & Teller saved $75.00
I am enjoying your report. And you have made good use of the coupon so far.

As for the ticket issue - I would have marched right back in and shown the coupon to the kid and gotten the tickets I wanted!!!!
Thanks for your Day 2 report!

Yes, maybe you should have gone back to the "punk" and said please read this ticket where it says that this is for regular or VIP tickets.

Maybe you should also point this out to the powers-that-be at LVA that you had this problem because who knows how many other LVA members have received this response from Fitz!

Now as for Craps, what do you not understand? Is there anything that I can help to explain to you?

Here is a phrase that has helped me deal with many a "punk kid"
"Go get your supervisor"

may your numbers always hit

Enjoyed your report...thanks for posting.
Good for you not falling for the VIP seating crap.
They probably didn't even fill that showroom.
Punk kid probably wasn't trained correctly either.
