Day 6- Laughlin
It is up early today to catch our bus to Laughlin, We catch a cab to Flamingo and the bus leaves at 7:35. I found an offer for a free bus ride with stops at the Las Vegas sign, a stop at Hoover Dam, and a free buffet. This trip was worth the price. The buffet at Edgewater was terrible but we were in and out and on the river walk in enough time to catch a ride on the river boat. We took a 90 minute boat ride and I loved it. The ride was so relaxing and we didn’t notice the heat. The temp got up to 113 in Laughlin but it was no problem in the shade and wind as we cruised up and down the river. Off the boat and catch a river taxi to put in some play at Harrah’s. Played for a while but got board when our machines only took our money but never even gave back enough to keep us playing so we decided to catch a regular cab back to Edgewater. We put in some decent play here and Hubby kept hitting 4oaks and cashing out, reload, 4oak cash out, reload. He quickly put in enough play to collect another free play offer, by the time we were ready to leave for the bus hubby cashed out $50.00 ahead. While we were playing hubby’s best friend called to let us know he had a 8 hour layover in Las Vegas and would be at Luxor until it was time to head back to the airport, we made plans to meet up for dinner. Back on the bus and I guess it was just too hot for the bus as well; the bus kept overheating and stalling so the driver would pull over give it a minute and restart. Our bus driver finally turned off the air conditioning and we did not have any more problems. I fell asleep shortly after we got on our way and woke up just before we drove past Railroad Pass so I knew we were close. We lucked out and the first drop off location was Excalibur so we hop off the bus and head to Luxor. Meet up with hubby’s friend his niece D, we decide on Luxor’s buffet for dinner. The last time we went to Luxor the buffet was not as good as we have had in the past but this time it was ok. This is the Niece’s first time in Las Vegas, so we take her to the strip to show her a little bit of the glitz of the strip at night. It is fun to see the strip through the eyes of a Vegas virgin and it makes you remember why you fell in love with this city. After so many trips we look at the strip as a necessary evil you must deal with occasionally if you want to go to particular show or restaurant, but it is nice to be reminded of the first time you look down the strip and see all the neon and glitter. We made it down to Bellagio and watched a couple of fountain shows, D was in awe. Head back toward Luxor and we say out goodbyes and walk back to Wyndham and they walk back to Luxor.
