Ahh....Qua..part 2

I have to say I do really enjoy going to Vegas with my husband. We've been out 3 times this year and I had a trio with my sister and niece this spring, but there's something to be said about solo trips. You don't have to rush and don't have to worry about someone waiting on you to go somewhere. My only must do this trio was to make hubby's football bets, and I did this when I first got to town so Saturday was mine....all mine.

When I travel alone I like to sleep with just the sheer curtains drawn, I love the sun coming up. My north tower view had a lovely view of the parking lot behind Bill's Gambling Hall, but that was fine with me. I think I turned in Friday night sometime after midnight and woke up a few times in the night. Around 6 the room was light so I rolled over, way too early for me! I ended up sleeping til 8:30. I showered and put on my sweats and put some must haves for the spa (swimsuit, comb, brush, book to read, etc.) in my handy dandy bag from the Lake Austin Spa..side note, if you're ever in Austin, Lake Austin Spa should be on your to do list. It's a rare occasion that I leave the house sans makeup, but who's going to know me @ the Bacchanal Buffet, right! I called housekeeping and told them there was no need to service my room since I was leaving Sunday, then in was off to Caesars. Buffet first, spa treatments start @ 12:30.

I got to the buffet around 9:30' for this of you who have asked about a cut in line, only 7 star and diamonds have a separate line. Us lowly Platinum have to wait in the other line . The nice thing was @ 9:30 there was no line. Ok, with my card it was 39.99 + tax but it did include champagne and mimosa, didn't ask about other alcohol. I don't know if you could have paid a no booze price or not. I was quickly seated and a cup of coffee, glass of water and a mimosa were soon in front of me. I walked around a bit to scope things out, then started in the back room with a ham, cheese and mushroom omelette. I also grabbed some fruit and a yogurt parfait. I liked that the omelette was smaller than most buffets, you don't fill up so much. It was very good and the parfait was excellent. Next stop was waffles, they were really good too. Everything branchy looked good but I wasn't looking to stuff myself before the spa. I do think I'd go back to this buffet again.

Spaaaaaaa. I was checked in at the front desk and it was nice to see a discount for presenting my TR card. I went back into the spa area where I was told since it was clothing optional, cell phones must be turned off. That would be appreciated if I felt the the need to be nude, but alas, I'm not that brave, I dress in my closet at home...ladies you known what I mean.

I got there an hour and a half before my first treatment, put my suit on, tucked my book in my robe pocket and head out for the roman bath. Hmmm, that book never made it out of my pocket. I spent a good bit of time in the large hot tub, did a quick plunge in the cold and the really hot, then back to the "just right". I'm not normally a jacuzzi type, but I could have stayed there until I was prune-y. One of the stone chairs became open so I laid back and just relaxed. I had placed my robe in the robe warmer before I hit the water so that was warm and toasty when I put it back on. I hit the cedar wood sauna and the artic room, skipped the steam, it fogs my contacts!

Treatment time. I went to the waiting area and a girl fixed me a very tasty jasmine green tea. It smelled sooo good. My first treatment was the 75 minute Fiji Ritual. It was heavenly. I was scrubbed down with a sugary scrub, the that was removed with warm towels, then a coconut moisturizer was applied, it smelled so good. Amy did my treatment and she was excellent. She put a bit of peppermint oil on what I call the face donut so when you're face down, you don't get a stuffy nose! Very smart, I usually put a life saver in my mouth before massages to keep my sinus's clear. The last part of my treatment was some sort of coconut oil in my hair. When I was done, I was a walking piƱa colada. I think I made a good choice with my treatment.

My next treatment was supposed to be a collagen facial, but I got talked into the coffee berry facial instead. The closer I get to 50 (next summer), the more my skin looks like my moms....thin and crepey. Jossie told me the collagen just sits on the skin, the coffee berry goes deeper. I said ok, I'd had a coffee berry @ Lake Austin a fee years ago. I have been known to fall asleep during a facial, except @ my regular Aveda place here in town since I'm yapping with the friend that does them, and this was no exception. Just as she was finishing I woke up. She told me not to wash the stuff off my face but makeup was fine. I should have washed the goo out of my hair before the facial!

I was going to hang around a little longer but was told that Wendy's had sent 400 employees to the spa that day and it was crowded. I gathered my things thinking that was one of the best days ever! My niece and I are coming back for a 3 day in April, I already told her to start her spa fund!

Back to my room to stick my head in the sink...lather rinse repeat, lather rinse repeat, lather rinse...finally!

Not much else for this short trip. Hubby won his money line bet on Texas A&M and his 5 game parlay and one of his 3 games. I won my 3 game but lost my Oklahoma bet....damn them, that's twice this year I've lost my bet on them. Hubby finished the trip up $200 (he does say he loses less when he sends money with me to bet for him). I lost what I won Friday night and then some. Oh well, I did t take more than I could afford to lose.

Car picked me up at 7:45 and we left on time @ 9:20. Hubby was waiting for me in the cell phone lot.

Our next trip is booked, mid February for our anniversary trip. Hope read everyone else's adventures until then.
Reading this, I'm at Qua with you. So glad you enjoyed your time there. My favorite is sitting in the hot roman tub by the water wall followed by a nap on one of the stone chairs.
Thanks for the report!
I'm also a Qua gal! It's my fave spa in the world, I especially love it very early mornings when there aren't many women there. I always start in the heated stone loungers, bliss. Love the cedar sauna, I get so hot then the artic room is just right, for 10 minutes, then it's back to the sauna. I'll be back between Christmas and NYE, can't wait for Qua!

Sounds like you had a great trip, I'm also a fan of solo trips, thanks for taking the time to share it with us!

Thank you for posting both parts of your report!

It sounds like you had a very nice time except for the losing at playing!

And I do agree that solo trips can be nice once in a while so you can really do what you want when you want to do it!

I have family in Las Vegas, whom I love dearly, but I always fib and say I am coming in one day later than I really am, for a bit of alone time. I'll be there 12 days this time, and with that much togetherness I am going to need to go into it totally relaxed. LOL
Thanks for the nice TR - I love Qua and totally agree with you about going there earlier when there's less talking (although there isn't much anyway on the guy's side as we keep the talk to a minimum). Interesting that you chose to buffet prior to the spa; I never eat prior to the spa because there's usually fruit or snacks there plus I don't want the massage therapist thinking that I'm fatter than I am!

Hawk, that's brilliant...going early. I do that @ the holidays, fly my niece in a day early so I can spend time with her before everyone gets here.
Fred, I figured I'd try the buffet @ breakfast when it was a bit slower. I knew I wouldn't be done @ the spa til at least 4 and thought the line would be pretty long. I was careful not to over eat and left several hours before my first treatment.
Bride of 33 years won't do the spa with me. I think I'll try my first afcial after my massage in 12 days at the GVR spa.
What a great trip! Two days of bliss! Hope the gambling is better next time! Thanks for the TR!
