I don't know why I can't sleep late in Vegas, could be the 2 hour time difference from home. We at least slept til 8:30. Sunday was marathon day, not for me, but we had to think carefully about what we wanted to do and where to go since cabs would be few and far between around 2 when they started closing down the strip. All I knew I wanted to do was go to Hard Rock to see if I can get some KISS commemorative chips since they were having their mini residency last month. Hubby and I cab it over and I hit up all the tables, no luck. Went to the cage, no luck. I guess I'll buy a t-shirt. A friend of mine from high school is a bigger fan than I am am he wanted me to bring him a chip too, sadly I left empty handed. I've been to HR 4-5 times in all my years going to Vegas and the only time I've ever seen crowds in the casino is the one time I went at night. Mornings and day times are dead. They must've all be sleeping it off. HR is a bit younger crowd than this 51 year old hangs with!
Disappointed, we cabbed it to Palazzo for lunch @ Grand Lux, a must do every trip. I always have the same thing, the soup, salad and sandwich lunch combo. Just enough and really tasty. We ate and gambled a bit but not too much. V/P Grazie has really never offered us much in free rooms so we don't give them much play.
Get back to Paris via Koval since they were starting to shut the strip down. Checked in with friends, they said they had used their 1/2 price brunch tix they bought at Ballys sidewalk cafe. B said it was a buffet and not good at all. I've ordered off the breakfast menu before and it was very good, but I saw the buffet on that trip, it looked pretty sad. B said wife and daughter wanted to go see a show so I said I could use my 2 free tix for Jubilee if they wanted to go and use points for his ticket, just let me know. I said if B didn't want to go with the girls, I'd do and B could gamble with hubby. Around 3 we had just gotten back to the room after piddling around with slots and 3 card at Ballys and hubby gets a text, they want to go to the show. I run back to Ballys to get the tix. I ended up with a table, 3rd row back from the stage. Told B to meet us in Ballys by the craps tables @ 9. Hubby and I had a drink in the diamond lounge and then decided to go back to the cafe @ Paris for dinner. It was good. After dinner we went outside to watch some of the marathon, we stayed out about a half hour, saw a small drone fly ove us. It was about 8:30 so hubby said lets go play $5 top dollar. I said I'd watch. He puts $100 in and after a few spins hit a bonus. He looks at me and says, you know if I'm winning you have to go find them without me. I said of course. His next hit was the double and 2 red 7's, that paid $800. This has him up over $2,000, he hits another bonus and I say, gotta go. I told him either B or I would be back after tix are delivered. I get to Ballys and tell them where I left hubby and B said he would go play while us girls went to the show. I saw the show in April just after the revamp and the lady at the box office said it was different since then, they took the story about the showgirl 'Jubilee' out. I said good, it didn't make any sense. Then we got talking about the topless show and I had mentioned seeing the Folies @ the Trop in 1988 and there were lots of fake boobs. She said you couldn't be surgically enhanced if you were a showgirl in Jubilee. Hmmm, that explains all the flat chested showgirls.
The show was better this time around. Just before the titanic scene these 2 guys in white tuxes came out and were so good, one of the best parts of the show. I think everyone should see this show at least once. It's the last of its kind and the costumes at magnificent. It's quite a spectacle. I did the behind the scenes tour a few years ago and that was really interesting but the show is something to see.
The men met us at Ballys after the show and I asked hubby what he cashed out at and he said $2,000. He said he had it up to $2,400 a few times so he didn't think he'd win anything else. Good thing, he had been down to his last $1,000 of his bankroll before that hit. K decided she was tired and was heading to bed and I told M I'd show her the penguin treasure ceremony machine @ Paris so we head that way. After getting her settled at the machine the rest of us went to play high cards flush. Lightening didn't strike twice for B so when he lost his $200 buy in he said he was goofing to bed. We were all leaving on the 9:25 a.m. nonstop back Monday morning. We weren't really winning so about 1:30 we decided to go pack and go to bed.
Woke up with the Wagners and waited for our friend Sean to pick us up and take us to the airport. Got there in time for hubby to buy the candy at Ethel M (yes, that means he had more money than I did when we went to bed Sunday night...if you've read my other reports, whoever has more at the end of the trio has to buy candy, pay the parking, get the dog from the puppy spa and pizza for dinner). I slept all the way back to Austin, didn't wake up until I heard landing gear. Another fun trip down, 5th of the year for me, 3rd for hubby. Next trip, his 50th bday/our 8th anniversary in Feb. Already booked flights and we'll try again for a premier lakeside suite @ Bellagio. Hopefully we get the room I reserved, not one in the spa tower like we got bumped to on my 50th.
Some thoughts - it's fun to see Vegas through a newbies eyes, I think K had a good time but I know she was beat, they walked for MILES!
B learned his lesson on buying meal discounts @ tix 4 .tonight. Their second meal was dinner at the Monte
Carlo buffet, B said not good.
My favorite Vegas buddy is still my hubby, we have similar gambling styles and really enjoy going to Vegas together. It was nice to have people go with us and I think one planned dinner is a good idea, then let things happen as they may.
Speaking of May, frienda of MINE from high school want to go in May. Right now there are 5 of us, my hubby is taking a pass, another friends hubby isn't a Vegas fan (what???) but she wants to go, another friend is going sans boyfriend and one other couple...and that will be another trip report.
Thanks to everyone that posts and reads these things.
