Anniversary Trip Sept 26 - Oct 3, 2019

Here we are again, our 2nd trip of 2019, BW 79 (BW), pretty, pretty Martie 63 (MJ), with Special Guests chase 40 (CS), son in law from Houston & Bill 72 (BB) from Leander, Retired Telephone employee, super friend and Craps Guru.

Transportation: Super Shuttle from Smithville, TX. to Austin Tx., Bergstrom Airport South Terminal & return to Smithville, semi expensive but in our minds worth it, raining on our return to Austin but no worries as we didn't have to drive, will continue to use them.

We flew Allegiant, time ok, price was average, will continue to compare prices and times with Southwest. We changed from Personal Sedan to Presidential, it was okay, our driver Darron was cool and efficient, will use both Presidential and Darron in the future.

Hotel: 7 nights at the D, comped completely, instead of 2nd or 3rd floor, we got room 2131, the room was okay and elevator service was okay. Registration desk and card services was good. Housekeeping missed cleaning as usual, on one of the days we were there but it was alright. Pleased overall with the room.

Gambling: Overall came back with 60% of our gambling budget, but MJ was a savior with 90% of her gambling budget, BW took a beating, thanks MJ.

Slots: MJ played slots 70% of the time/budget and had some consistent hits on slots such as Hoot Loot, Triple Double Sevens, Taxi and other unique off the wall penny slots, MJ does better when BW is not hanging around to advise her. MJ & BW walk around playing random slots was not successful. Overall MJ had success on slots and whole trip and is improving on money management.

Video Poker: MJ Played 30% on VP, BW 70%. MJ hit 3 4 of a kind all on .50. one A's with a kicker, BW 13 4 of a kind 2 .50 and 11 .25 none with a kicker, notice no $1. and we played about 25% of play on $1. We play mostly DD Bonus and know it is unpredictable and with both of us BW and MJ, with 4 years plus with no Royals and reduction in $1. 4 of a kind it is my belief some adjustments have been made by the Casinos to alter the gamblers at DD Bonus Poker.

Craps: Played one session with CS, 3 with BB and some by myself, only 1 big win $250. but only down $75 overall. Played at the D, 4Q, Fremont $5. table, still learning but enjoy it greatly, so exciting, all employees at the tables were attentive. Love it.

Sports Betting: Bet 2 parlays on separate weekends a 4 team and a 5 team and crashed and burned as usual. Love betting and sweating both College and Pro Football team parlays but only hit one our of 10. Still fun though. I bet 2 Houston Astro parlays one to win the American League and 2 to win the World Series as of Oct. 17 these bets are still active.

Food: Not foodies, ate at the D Grille, McDonalds at the D, American Hot Dog at the D, Magnolia at the 4 Q and Binions Steakhouse. Grille at the D was below average, all of the rest was just okay except for Binions which was super.

Derek Sightings: Several times at the Long Bar during sporting events, BW & MJ shook his hand while he was walking around the Casino.

Random Thoughts:

- Super Shuttle Good
- South Terminal since Frontier is flying out was crowded 3 flights were delayed, loud and crude
- Allegiant ok but slipping in service
- The D good
- 4 Q good
- Played at D, 4Q, Fremont, GN, GG and El Cortez
- Bartenders great. at the D Jason, Roy Rafiell, Antuan, Chris, Reid and Marco - 4 Q Allen, Nate, Damien at El Cortez Jeremy
- Cocktail Service okay
- Coffee Bar at the D best value in Vegas
- Next trip Feb. 2020 for BW 80th Birthday. Yep I made it
- Met some real neat people from Montana, Michigan, Oregon, Canada and California
- In the future BW will increase crap sessions, decrease VP and I am sure by doing so it will effect his comps at the D. May try other gams such as roulette
- Our waiter at Binions Steakhouse was Salvatore and was fantastic and we will request him in the future
- Never get to do all the things we plan. Oh Well

VIVA LAS VEGAS LOVE IT!

Excellent report.  Great anniversary trip.

Love how you did this report.  Categories, easy to read.  Returning with 60% of budget is a winner.  We know the odds are against us, right?  Glad to know about Binions Steakhouse and that great waiter.  Might give that one a try next trip or two.  Happy Anniversary!

Thanks for sharing.

Would you expound on htis?

"Coffee Bar at the D best value in Vegas"

I had heard they were pretty pricey. Were you drinking something special?

Maybe they also serve "coffee" (wink, wink)?

Thanks thebeachbum, Candy Wright, Blonde4ever, & Kevin Lewis for your comments. OK Blonde4ever you got me we do dearly love our early morning coffee & BW does not let the truth get in the way of a good story. Through the years we have used numerous methods of getting our morning coffee from bringing coffee makers in our luggage, buying coffee makers at Walgreens, ordering coffee (expensive) thru room service at Flamingo & 4 Queens (inexpensive). The cost at The D was never more than $8 for 3 large coffees , 2 with all the trimmings, BW always tipped excessively &  scnmoosed the kids working the coffee stand & it was seconds away by elevator. I can't promise not to exaggerate in my future TR's. OK

Lol. Thanks.

i will be at the D soon.  I am cheap so I usually get coffee from McDs but maybe I will give these people a try
