We go to Vegas every year at this time to celebrate our anniversary. This was a special one as it was out 30th wedding anniversary and my 50th birthday! Three days before we were to leave I had a car accident and wasn't sure we were going but after a couple days rest I felt much better and was able to go. I was sitting in my parked car when I guy came down the street behind me and got blinded by the sun and didn't see me parked. He hit me so hard that my seat broke and the roof buckled. My car is also about 2 feet shorter than it was.Total loss but I'm am OK and thats all that matters.
We left on Saturday afternoon and drove to Buffalo to catch our Sunday morning flight. Always do the park and fly at a hotel near the airport. Its nice not to have to mess with the parking lot shuttles and for what it costs to park it makes sense to do this for us. We had a direct flight which is a first for us. Long ride but nice not to take all day to get there. We arrived in Vegas on time at about 945 for 6 days comped at the IP. Check in lines were long but got an upgrade to a luv tub room. I know this place is old and worn but we don't mind it there and you can't beat the location.
Got settled in and got something to eat then it was time to start walking and do a little gambling. Stopped and played at several places. Went to Ballys and played .10 ddb and got 3's with kicker for 160 bucks! Wandered around some more and ended up checking out the Cosmopolitan. We were going to just walk through but decided to sign up for a card where they gave us 10 bucks in free play. I played mine on BP and ended up cashing out for 150 and my wife won 50 on hers. Took the money and left and never went back!
Monday wasn't good as far as gambling. Couldn't win anywhere but thats OK. I look at it this way, I am here to have a good time, if I win its a bonus!
Tuesday was anniversary shopping day and show day. I always take my wife to pick out her gift since I hate shopping for gifts and if she picks it out I know she will like it. We ended up in a jewery store in the fashion show mall where she was looking at a necklace and a pair of ear rings. She couldn't decide which she liked best so I told her you only have 1 30th anniversary so why not get both. $1100 dollars later we left and she was happy! That night we went to see Terry Fator at the mirage. We had front row center section tickets and the show was great! The guy is amazing. We enjoyed it so much we are going to see him again when we go back in August. After the show we wanted a little something to eat so we walked across to casino royale for a sandwich at Subway. This turned out to be a good decision. After we ate I decided to throw a 20 in a machine and try so TDB deluxe where I hit 3's with a kicker for 500 bucks. It got me back to almost even for the trip!
Wednesday we went down to Freemont in the morning. I like downtown in the morning. No crowds! Did a little coupon run and used some free play I had at 4 queens and Binions plus went to El Cortez to use the $10 free play in the ACG. Between all the free play we ended up cashing out about $80 which I gave to my wife.
Thursday was our last full day in town. We spent the last day walking from one end of the strip to the other. We stopped and played at just about every casino along the way and did a lot of shopping and picture taking. Went to see the garden at Bellagio and stopped to watch the fountain show.
This was a nice relaxing trip. Went to a few casinos we had never been in before. Played lots of VP. Had a total of 24 4OAK's for the week but didn't come out ahead. Still came home with about 2 thirds of my bankroll so plenty of money left for August trip. Went to Sahara one day. I really used to love this place. I got my first and only royal here last year. You sure can tell the place is closing. It was dead. I really am going to miss it though.
Friday it was time to go home. Hated to leave the nice weather and come home to cold rain and snow. We ended up getting out of vegas about 25 minutes late. Got to Atlanta and the weather was very bad and we ended up circling the airport for quite a while. By the time we landed we had missed our connection and had to spend the night in Atlanta. Got back to Buffalo about noon the next day and headed home. So long Vegas, see ya in August!
