If this works, I'll just link my blog report on the trip:

Oh yeah, the blog is completely non-commercial and has no ads of any kinds.

Great report, Bob.

I've completely retreated from the Strip, and only stay downtown.  It's also changing rapidly, but at least Fremont East Entertainment District still offers plenty of good food and drink at a reasonable price.

Thank you sir!

I almost skipped Vegas this year after a similar experience last year.     Even El Cortez has gone to shit and that breaks my heart.    I'm going wine tasting in California this week and will spend two nights in Vegas before heading home.   But I'm thinking it's mostly going to be sitting by the pool instead of playing in the casinos.   We'll see.

thanks for the report.   Seems about the same as what everyone is seeing now.

Thanks, Bob, for the great write-up.

Anthony opines that the gougefest pretty much has to abate sooner or later. I'm not so sure. I'm sure that even with all the ghastly negatives, I'm sure you saw a lot of visitors cramming the sidewalks and honking at each other in the clogged streets.

Who needs it, I say. Reno has much better value and offers a far more pleasant experience. And it's easy to get to if you book Southwest through Vegas.

Thanks for the comments, folks. And yes, between two home hockey games in three days and a convention, the sidewalks (and streets) were pretty full. It took me an hour and a half to drive from the Tuscany to Treasure Island to drop off the car -- midday on a Thursday. I could have walked faster. Much faster. At least it wasn't the weekend.

I am concerned, and I'll get into it in another blog entry, about how to handle transportation. You can't take cabs with fixed pricing except from the airport. You risk sitting in traffic forever. And Uber and Lyft, you never really know when somebody is going to show up with all of the traffic slow-downs.

Really enjoyed the write up, Bob.  Wife and I will be going to Vegas in July and will pretty much be off strip. Thanks for the info on the traffic, so we'll confine ourselves to traveling the back streets on our way to downtown and over to the Orleans, one of our favorite spots.

Have a great time on your July trip.
