Aria, Augustus & Elvis 2/23-28 Day 3

Well, also the end of day two. LOL

We cabbed from the Diamond Lounge to the Harmon entrance of Aria and took the escalator up to the Elvis Theatre. On weekends, the lounge outside Elvis, called Gold, has an open bar in the evening. There is a cover charge of $15-$20 to get in, but just a couple of drinks would make you even for the night.

Speaking of drinks, we lined up with a zillion other folks for beverages, pre-show. While making our 32 oz, $25 drinks, (again with the giant drinks!!!! It took me three days to drink mine!) our bartender told us they had just added two numbers to the show and was sure we'd enjoy it.

We had great seats and I looked at our tickets--they had a face value of $275 for two. Yikes! The show was good, but compared to LOVE, the only other Cirque I've seen, it wasn't anything to crow about. I really did like the pictures they showed on a screen behind the action that went through Elvis' life. It made me sad to remember how he started and then how he ended. . .They did not show the fat years. The acrobatics were amazing, as they are in all Cirque shows. I was disappointed that it wasn't longer. It started at 9:30 and we were back at our room, which was a decent walk, before 11:00. How short would it have been before they added the new numbers?

Saturday, the actual third day, brought my quest to get both my Aunt & Uncle into the Diamond Lounge at Caesars to watch the KU-MU game. For those of you who think we are only fly over states, that is Kansas & Missouri who are now both #2 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. I have a host at Caesars. I think it is because of my stint (however brief) as a Diamond. Her name is Louella and she always leaves me a lovely phone message. I have never met her or asked her for anything, but this time I called her to see if I could have two guests in the Diamond Lounge--usually you can only bring in one. Now, my Aunt & Uncle are elderly-one is blind and one uses a cane. They are still a lot of fun. I wanted to do something special for them & knew they'd like the relaxed atmosphere. I picked them up and we valeted at the Augustus Tower entrance. One of the bellmen escorted my Aunt & I guided my Uncle. We walked in and Louella was waiting. She was awesome! She acted like were were old friends and hugged me & was really nice to my Aunt & Uncle. They were extremely impressed and I was so grateful to Louella for making me feel like a real VIP.

We had a blast watching the game, which went into overtime. Even though we beat MU by the skin of our teeth, we did not beat the spread, so I was glad I hadn't bet on my beloved Jayhawks. My cousin came in with her boyfriend and some of our other friends and a good time was had by all.

Later that night my cousin and bf had plans so I hooked up with some new friends who took me to Grimaldi's--a local place with NY style pizza. Yum squared! I think it is off Eastern and is worth a visit. There is also one at either the Venetian or Palazzo.

Thanks for reading so far--I actually did get to gamble a little the rest of the trip. More to come.
Thanks for sharing your exploits with us!

Enjoying the story so far and looking forward to the next installment!

Yes, thanks for the end of Day 2 plus Day 3! I do like Elvis but I don't know if I want to shell out the $ to see "Viva Elvis."

And that's very nice what you were able to do for your Aunt and Uncle!
