Atlantic City trip - Sept 28 to Oct 1

As my wife will not fly during this period I convinced her that we could drive to Atlantic City (6 hours from Richmond VA) to stay at the Ocean Casino. So our normal two bag trip turned into two small suitcases and two extra bags full of cleaning materials.

On arrival at Ocean you come out of the car parking floor and straight into the line where you get scanned for temperature and asked a lot of questions re your condition. (took about 1 minute)  After that you notice plenty of sanitizing stations and wipes.

Check in was easy and safe. People all wearing masks and socially distancing.

Got to our room and the first thing the wife did was clean everything....and I mean everything. Phone, TV remote, desk, drawers, handles etc etc.....the room started to smell like a hospital ward.....Oh well it made her happy.

The elevators going down to the casino floor were strictly 4 to an elevator. People on the floor were wearing masks and socially distancing. Not that busy which meant plenty of slots to choose from. Not that loose but managed to win a couple of decent mini's....

The restaraunts were at 25% capacity and plenty of room between tables.  No smoking allowed in any of the casinos in AC so you have to make you way out of the building. At least the views of the ocean made it acceptable.

Mind you here is a problem I found....once you come back into the building there is no specific temp checks. If you come back in through the main entrances (rather than the car park) there is a person there with a board showing the health questions and he/she just says have you read the board and are you OK. I wondered what the point is if they are letting people in from the main boardwalk without checking temperatures.

This was the same with Caesars, Tropicana, Hard Rock, Resorts and Ballys. So I have to assume that unless you are staying at the hotel (and arriving through the car parks) they don't try too hard to comply with the rules....

In summary my wife felt safe and so did I. The short break from "house living" has helped and we came back with money so all is good...Now just a 14 day stay at home to ensure we did not catch anything.....

If all is good then I may get to Vegas this year...Fingers crossed.

Keep safe guys.

Terry

Thanks for the report.  So glad you found things being safely done.

Well, it sounds like they WEREN'T being safely done...as they did entrance checks of people coming from the garage but not people just coming in off the street. Half measures.

It could be because the vast majority of visitors to AC arrive by car (what little air service there is being pretty pathetic) and the casinos feel that anyone wandering in off the boardwalk would already have run the gauntlet of checks at some other casino. Of course, that is inadequate.

At least they are banning smoking.
