AUG 13-16TH

stayed 2 nights at Orleans (comped) and 2 nights at fremont. Orleans is always pretty reliable, I like their pool area, and their pai gow, room is fine for my needs. this was my first time staying at the fremont, nothing special there, just as expected for downtown, but the a/c was a little sluggish. they have a female bartender with a nasty attitude that I remember from previous trips, I'm not a difficult customer but I hate crap like that.

I spent some time using some of my mrb coupons. took advantage (again) of the 5% rebate for using the atm at el cortez. last time I was there they told me no, this time yes, even though I didn't have 1500 point the previous month. all you can do is ask I guess. won about a $100 on the automated craps game there.

like most everyone else im sick of the loud music at the D and the GG. I don't mind a party atmosphere, but enuf is enuf, even some of the staff is wearing ear plugs. I like the theme / décor at the D and the GG though. made sports bets at the self serve kiosk upstairs at the D. I think I prefer it for some reason.

and like most, I am sick of the nasty hookers and side show freaks on fremont. but i still like going downtown for now and hope i can continue to like it. i still want to do the zipline... one of these days or nights.

played, craps, bj, slots, pai gow, finished the trip down about a $300, im fine with that.

overall i cant complain, it was a good trip with no regrets.

i still have a book full of good coupons that i wont be able to use. i don't plan on coming back before april/may 2015. but if something comes up im sure someone could twist my arm. in fact, i made a commitment to myself to visit at least 2x a year. i have done 3 or 4 in one year but there just isn't any bargain airfare anymore :-(. i read a post the other day from someone in the UK, saying that we are so lucky here in the states that it is not too long of a flight. i could not agree more!
Thanks for your report, and sorry that you ended up losing!

As for Fremont, how were you with the room having Shutters and the small bathroom with the towel rack in the back of the shower/tub (unless this has changed since several years ago).

I also didn't care much for the Hookers downtown, but fortunately I didn't see many of them.

I was in LV till the 14th and had a nice time staying and playing downtown the entire time and I did not even make it out to the Strip at any time during the visit.

And I also don't care much for the very loud music at Golden Gate and D. At Golden Gate I just used the LVA 2 To 1 Blackjack coupon and then left as soon as I could after that!

I am spending more time DT but I agree with you on the D and GG music. I chalked it up to getting older, however I looked around at the clientele of the D it is my age or even older.
Sorry you didn't win but I don't expect that, it's more about loss limits and having fun.

Did you have any issues with the new open container rules dt?
Thanks for reporting.
Down $300...not bad at all.

A pox on that bartender with the nasty attitude.
If you get a chance to complete a post-trip survey, I say mention that for sure.
I wouldn't think much about one occurrance. Folks can have a bad day, or a bad week.
But this sounds like her regular MO.

Hope you do get another chance to use the rest of those MRB coupons!

1. shutters, I HATE THEM! Im I night owl, going to bed around 5 or 6 a.m., but I knew what to expect coz ive stayed at mss and they have them as well. at home I have my bedroom Dracula dark!
2. bathroom, well again it is similar to mss, low showerhead too, I just deal with it I guess. im sort of a budget traveler and this was a solo trip, maybe I would have splurged if I was sharing a room.
3. open container, not a major inconvenience to pour your beer into a plastic cup. I don't see much reason for it though, other than the casino vs. liquor store politics.

I used the pizza rock bogo, it was good pizza and a huge slice, I ate most of one slice and gave the other to a homeless man.

and did I mention the drink service Friday night at the bj tables at the fremont casino was the worst ever! im not the heaviest drinker but this really sucked. used to the casinos wanted you drink more, gamble more, lose more. has this changed? a couple of time 3 of us from the table had to go to the bar during shuffle to get drinks. that is effed up!

Yes, I hate the Shutters and the dinky bathroom too and so after my one and only stay at Fremont, I said "Not again." Does anyone here know if there is any Boyd place downtown that doesn't have at least the Shutters?

I think that another issue with having cups instead of cans and/or bottles is that it is something less to possibly throw at people and even if a cup were thrown, it could cause less damage/hurt as opposed to the cans/bottles.

As for your drink service at Fremont, that really stinks that it was so bad!
