Bally's AC, Dec. 3 - 5. A little long

This was only the second trip this year for me and my AC buddy (sister). Hadn’t been since January! Now, we don’t need much incentive to go to AC; but the ever swirling rumors of Revel’s possible demise dictated that we go now or we may not get a chance to see it.

We left NOVA around 12:00 pm on Monday. We discovered that our usual stopping place, the Maryland house, was closed for remodeling, so we had to continue on to the Chesapeake house. Then, on to AC!

The traffic was light this day and we made pretty good time considering our stop at Chesapeake house. We pulled into Bally’s garage right at 4 pm.

We stayed in a Dennis Luxury Room. I have no complaints except that it was smallish. The TV was nice as was the bathroom. Our view was a building across from us, with the ocean to our left. If you looked to the right, you could see the entrance to Harry’s Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant. You really didn’t have to crane your neck too much to see the ocean, so I was happy.

After relaxing in the room for a bit, we hit the casino. It really wasn’t crowded at all, and neither of us had a lot of luck to begin with, so we went over to Café Roma for dinner. This place wasn’t crowded either; I am guessing because it was a Monday night in December is some of the reason for the lack of crowds. Still, it seems that in years past I have seen more people in the casinos, even in December.

Then back to Bally’s so we could take in the Monday Night game between the Redskins and Giants. I am a diehard Redskins fan and LOVE my RGIII. He did not disappoint, either! What a great time I had watching the game in the Mountain Bar!! HTTR!

After this, my sister went to bed and I went down and played a little bit. Had some modest luck on WOF and played the Hangover slot for the first time ever. I had a little luck on that, but nothing spectacular.

We slept in the next day and had a late breakfast at Gilchrist Restaurant. Let me start by saying that the blueberry pancakes were fantastic. So were the views of the water. We chatted a little while with some other guests who were locals. They had many stories to tell of Sandy. They had lost their washer and dryer due to flooding in their house, which they stated was only a few blocks away. One of the workers pointed out a restaurant right down the street. I believe the name was Scales. At any rate, they had been hit hard. After breakfast, we walked down to take a look. There were workers inside who appeared to still be pulling up flooring. This restaurant looked like it was once so nice. It was really sad to see.

We poked around in that general area for a while and then headed to Revel. All I can say for starters is what a classy looking place! After hearing some of the comments on LVA and ACOne, I was expecting not to like it, but I loved it! It’s a very, very nice property. But it was not crowded at all either. I can’t understand why this casino isn’t doing well. I was very impressed with it and found plenty of penny slots and every other type that I would play if I was staying here.

Then it was off to Showboat for the comped buffet. It was just ok, not nearly as good as Borgata’s but I suspect anyone reading this already knows that! We both had some reel dollars at Showboat and played them thru. I can’t remember how my sister did, but I did not have a lot of luck here either. We then decided to visit Caesars. This place was hopping! I don’t know if there was a convention in town or what, but it was loud, crowded and everyone seemed to be having a blast. It was great to be in a place that wasn’t so quiet!!

The next day we left around noon and ended up stopping at MarylandLive! I had $100 in free slot play from them and the traffic on 95 was only going to get worse, so we figured why not? I ended up playing it thru and taking home about $60, so I was glad we stopped.

All in all, it was really an enjoyable trip. I didn’t go hog wild with money, got to see Revel and did some interesting things that we normally don’t do while in AC. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for writing. I haven't been to AC in a few months and wondered how the place is doing after Sandy given the challenges it was having before Sandy hit.
Thanks for the report! It sounds like you and your sister had a nice time overall!

Sorry to hear about the Sandy damage!

I think one thing that hurts Revel is the no smoking environment. I have gone to see it, and even won money there, but as a smoker, I will not make the trip again. I will play at casinos that accommodate me.

I too believe that's part of it. But, certainly not all of it as I would think there would be plenty of non-smokers who would like to have a totally smoke free casino. At least they always seem to be complaining about smoke botherig them; well, now you have your casino. Where are you? LOL

But, seriously, has to be more than that, don't you think?
