Bally's Feb. 12th - 15th

Saturday, February 12th
Left home ahead of schedule at 5:45am. I slept all the way past Baker, CA.

Arrived at Silverton around 9:15am. Seasons buffet (BOGO ACG). Sit withYolanda. Good service. Good food. Played the new penny three stooges. Fun, but no wins.

Leave for Bally’s around 11am. Score a parking spot down by the sportsbook lot. Check in, but our South Tower Suite is not ready. We poked around til 2:30pm. Lost a few dollars. Won a few dollars. Suite is finally ready. Room 6601. It is big but dated décor. But not a big deal to us. We got the suite for the big soaker tub. Everything in the room was fine. Had 5 sets of towels to start with. We grab our gear from the truck and settle in. My husband decides I need some likker to help with the cold my coworkers shared with me. I agree. We hit the floor and I swear, my bloody mary tasted like it was carbonated. Rory swears it wasn’t. Too much Dayquil, I guess.

We walked to Ellis Island to get the $10 FSP from ACG – it takes 24 hours to post to your players club. And you have to play $10 first. Then you have to take the coupon to the PC desk. Not a big deal. As it turns out, I had never gotten a card there, so I also got $10 FSP for signing up. We ate at the restaurant (BOGO ACG). I had steak & shrimp (shrimp good, steak just ok…I asked for medium rare and got well done). Rory had jumbo shrimp and chips. Very good he said.

We played at Bally’s for the rest of the night – nothing spectacular to report.

Sunday, February 13th
Rory headed out around 10am for the final day of Rugby 7s. I headed out to Le Buffet at Paris. I waited in line for 1 hour 5 minutes just to pay. ($10 off – MRB) wait a few more minutes to be seated. Lousy 2 seater table by the service area. Remarkably, service was slow. There were three 2-seaters squished on a wall that should have only had 2 tables…

I was extremely disappointed overall. What kind of FRENCH buffet only serves margarine?? With all that yummy looking bread, all they had to offer was margarine. And how come they only serve 2% milk? The prime rib came only one way from the carving station – WELL DONE. The crab legs looked so pathetic I didn’t even try them. I asked for extra ice with my soda – came without ice. I had to ask for a table setting twice before I stole one from an empty table. So for $17.99 (+tax), I had bread, cheese, creamed spinach and some bacon. A lot of the serving dishes were empty and no one seemed interested in refilling them. I will not return to this buffet.

Afterwards, I lounged in our 1980’s era suite and thoroughly enjoyed it. At 4pm I hit the Tequila Bar and Grill at Bally’s for some Albondigas soup that was really tasty. Of course, I still have a cold, so maybe that’s why it tasted so good. Soup, chips/salsa and a draft modelo for $11 (+tax). Rory returned from Sam Boyd stadium around 5pm. We met up with the rest of our group and played til about midnight. Somehow, the boys were full up and whiskey and decided to hit Nosh’s….Miss E and I carried on at Dean Martin and ended up more inebriated than the boys…imagine that.

Monday, February 14th
Rory & I were the only ones that did not leave on this day. We slept in til about 10 and then decided Rio World Carnival buffet was the way to go. We just missed the Bally’s/Rio shuttle. Waited about ½ hour for the next one. There was no line at the buffet (BOGO – MRB) and we were seated right away.

Food was delish. My fav is the Mongolian bbq with shrimp and also the Vietnamese pho soup. Rory was delighted with 2 plates of kielbasa.

After lunch and lounging, we headed back to Ellis for our FSP. I turned my $20 FSP into $40 on SITC at $2 a spin, all four games. Rory’s $10 FSP turned into $0.

Later that day, we monorailed to LVHilton for my golf betting. For the upcoming Masters, I got Harrington at 30/1 and Goosen at 40/1. My new fav McIlroy, however, was only at 8/1. The kids got promise and obviously others see that as well.

We decided to go see the new Cosmopolitan. Sure it’s purty but it is too hoity toity for us. It’s a lot like Aria as far as décor goes. The cocktail server was prompt but not very outgoing. The floor person was very nice. She was fixing a penny slot next to us and starting chatting to us. They did not have any beers that I like, so I was stuck with fat tire. We stayed there about an hour. Probably won’t be back.

Back at Bally’s we played some penny 50 hand DB. Started with $20 and cashed out $50. Played for quite a while too. Long enough to wish we had actually eaten dinner BEFORE all those newcastles. Although that did make my ham & cheese from nosh’s taste really really good. LOL

Tuesday, February 15th
We were up early & caught the monorail to Harrah’s (yes I know it’s close enough to walk, but I’m lazy) for Flavors buffet ($5 off pp – MRB). No line at all and we were stuffed within ½ hour. Whole milk, butter and rare beef (it wasn’t prime rib but it was rare), cheese blintzys, bacon, black beans and cheese, kielbasa, kielbasa and cotton candy. WAY WAY better than that French place…

Back to Ballys to pack. At the monorail station, we gave our 24 hour passes that were valid for 6 more hours to a couple about to buy passes. Good karma, right?

The road home was smooth and steady. However, we were disappointed to find that Roberto’s Taco Shop in Baker is now a BBQ joint.

Thanks for reading.

Cholesteral City! Mercy woman!!! Yes, Paris buffet stopped being great or even good I guess about a year or more ago.. sad.
Any vacation sounds like fun to me today- thanks for posting!

Thanks, Shanny for the report! Sorry that you didn't have much of any winnings but at least you seemed to have a nice time with your friends.

I haven't made it over to Aria or Cosmopolitan yet but I don't know if I have enough interest to get over there.

I hope that you're feeling better by now!

My worst hangovers have been from DayQuil, NyQuil, etc. LOL
Hope you are feeling better by now.

That is a shame about the Paris buffet.
Did you by any chance say anything to the management?
I'm on a kick about this...nothing will change until they get feedback.

Thanks for the report!

@ justmare, CLV, RecVPPLayer, and O2bnvegas.....Despite my cold, we had a very nice weekend. and we had a nice valentine's day together. came home some moolah too.

@ noahcat - yes it was an unhealthy food weekend, but that's what buffets are all about! LOLOL I don't eat like if I ain't in vegas (or laughlin, or pala, or harrahs rincon).

@O2bnVegas - I did not say anything to management. I was tired and needed more Dayquil - I just wanted to get back to our ST Suite at Ballys. hmmm..kinda sounds like I'm addicted to the Quil, huh??

AND i'm finally starting to feel better too.
Good thing, cuz we are going to Pechanga on 3/17 - my husband's band is playing in the lounge that night for St. Patrick's Day. I will be out on the casino floor playing pennies! I've heard all their songs before. LOL

Hey Shanny,

At least from what I remember from VPFree2.com, I do think that Pechanga may have some 9/6 Jacks Or Better Video Poker (although their Slot Club supposedly is not too great).

And could you find out what kind of return their slot club is offering?

Thanks!

Thanks Shanny, if the slot club return % is good enough, maybe at some point in time I will pay the place a visit. Do they send any offers with Freeplay?

And yes I do remember your adventures on your previous St. Patrick's Day visit to Pechanga, oh well!
