This is a Biloxi MS trip, but I vowed to contribute more TRs than I have been in the last few years, so I'll put this here also.
This has become our favorite casino trip. Free charter flight and three nights at the beautiful Beau Rivage Resort Hotel on Biloxi Bay. Sun Country Airlines, about 55 minute flight (versus 3 1/2 hours to Vegas at best), bus to hotel, they take our bags to the room, etc. Beau Rivage is a twin of Bellagio, almost. I'm told Steve Wynn was involved in the beginning of it. No big fountain show, but a room overlooking the ocean is much better!
Free drinks on the flight down, though there was barely enough time for one pass. I had a bourbon and coke, our friend Connie had a Screwdriver, and my husband, who rarely drinks and doesn't gamble enjoyed a bourbon and coke also. So we were happy and ready to play.
There is a Casino Hopper that for $6 you can ride all day to casinos on their route. This trip, other than the Beau, we only made it to Hard Rock (next door, walked), Harrah's (very, very small casino), and Golden Nugget, a very nice place. Had no luck at Harrah's or Golden Nugget to speak of. Alas, as we get older we run out of steam much more quickly.
Anyway, I'm not one that recalls all the plays, etc., so I'll just tell the good ones.
We arrived Wednesday evening, checked in through VIP (this is an mLife property). Nice room with bay view. Connie and I played penny Platinum Quick Hits and Las Vegas Quick until late in the evening. I finished the night about $800 ahead! Husband (who doesn't play) guilted me into stopping to go eat around 10 pm. I never feel hungry while I'm playing, but he was, so I left a good hitting machine to go with him. That is true devotion. Buffet was closed so we ate in their Café which is very nice. I had grilled scallops and grilled asparagus which were both good. He had a club sandwich, very good also. Connie elected to keep on playing, and I think she wished she had gone with us.
Next morning we found our carpet very wet in front of the closet. Turns out there is some kind of water leak from the bathtub through the closet and into the room. Long story short, they moved us to another room as this couldn't be easily repaired.
We ate breakfast at the buffet, excellent omelets and everything. Connie had My Vegas free buffets and we had two free ones for the trip.
We walked to Hard Rock. Connie and I found two Las Vegas Quick Hits at the same bank. Hers was hitting like crazy, mine not doing much. I looked around and saw a long line of VP machines along a wall. Above them was a neon sign "Progressive, .25 cents." That's all it said. All the machines were multi-denom and multi-game, and I had to search a bit but I finally found one of the four machines that had the progressive, and only on the quarter Double Bonus game. It was up to $1430.00, not huge but I thought maybe. Sat down and played for a while and it was doing good, several 4 of a kinds and FH's.
Connie's machine had gone south and she was pacing, came over and asked "are y'all ready to leave?" which is code for she wants to move on. Yeah, of course if you are, but she needed to visit the bathroom first. I said OK, I'll play until you get back and we'll leave. Fortunately she didn't rush it, and I hit that progressive! Yea! Mississippi takes out state tax, so they took $43 of my money! But I was happy anyway. They gave me a big purple Hard Rock insulated cup as the "gift" for getting a jackpot. Useless to me, but Connie wanted it.
Next we hopped on the Hopper and did Harrah's and then Golden Nugget, but around 5 pm decided to return to the Beau, since they were funding the trip we didn't want them to think we were stiffing them. Didn't do anything at Harrah's or GN to brag about.
Getting back to the Beau, we decided it would be wise to eat first and then sit down to play, since we hate to interrupt playing should we get a good machine. So we did the buffet, can't remember what we ate but we were pleased with it. Then on to the machines.
The Quick Hits weren't being as good to us. Connie went to penny Pharaoh and Moby Dick machines, did well on Pharaoh and kicked some butt on Moby Dick.
I drifted to VP, decided to try quarter 10 play since I was a little ahead. Good choice, as I hit three (3) Royal Flushes within about an hour. No tax on those, and I had cashed out after each one, put those three tickets in the room safe so I'd have something to cash at the end of the trip. I couldn't believe my good luck, because over the last two years VP hasn't been good to me.
Next morning, again the buffet, excellent. Connie wanted to go back to the Hard Rock to try her Las Vegas Quick Hit machine again. I really didn't want to, didn't want to "lose" what I had won the day before, but...OK.
So her machine did good but not great, while mine (the same two) did no good at all. Connie suggested I play this one penny Quick Hit Pro that was by itself, since I had done pretty well on that kind at Oaklawn in Hot Springs AR (close to home). Well, damn if I didn't get the 10 Quick Hits on that machine for a $1742.00 progressive jackpot! Again, their governor took $52 dollars of my winnings, but I was pumped!
Funny, I went over to the VP machine to see what that progressive had climbed up to since I had hit it the day before. It showed $1001.00. LOL. The place wasn't very busy either morning, and I guess it hadn't been played much, if any.
That afternoon back at the Beau, I hit $400 x 2 on a dollar VP machine, and then the gambling Gods said I'd had enough, and I couldn't hit squat the rest of the day, while Connie kept kicking butt on Moby Dick. We ate supper at the Café again, we split sandwiches, all good, and I enjoyed a good Riesling wine.
One thing different was that the Beau had this Scratch Off Ticket promotion, whereby every 250 points you played got you a Scratch Off. They were worth anywhere from $5 free play (or more), $5 in food at any of their outlets, tee shirts, and so on. You redeemed the tickets at the mLife desk. Connie got a blue tooth DVD player with one of her scratchers! We both got so many tickets it was ridiculous, going back time and again to see how many we had earned, do the scratching, and redeem our prizes, but all those $5 free plays and $5 food credits (we gone one for $10!) helped with the free play and meals, and got 3 tee shirts for my husband that he loves. Their mLife counter had 10-12 people working at all times, so it moved fast and you didn't have to stand in line a long time to redeem your tickets. And Connie had so many $5 food credits on the last morning that she bought a bag full of chocolate candies at one of their little stores, to give our other friends.
They said they've done this promotion for quite a few years, and I had just happened to overhear another player mention getting "our scratch off tickets" or I might not have known to check this out. I don't think they've had it the previous times we were there, but we easily could have missed it this time.
Well, that's enough. I did great, came home over $1000 ahead, ready for a May Vegas trip we have on the books already. But we LOVE the Beau trips best.
Thanks for reading!
