Betting on elevators - March 27-31

We normally take a trip in February to celebrate our anniversary and hubby's bday, hubby was turning 50 so I had a suite at Bellagio reserved to celebrate. Plans changed. Our vet found a mass in our fur baby's ear just before Christmas, results come in a few days before New Years, cancer, not a good kind. First week of
January met with puppy oncologist, second week of January surgery, end of January wait for results to see if we need radiation. 18 days of radiation required, vacation canceled. Radiation pretty much went through the month of February. After first post radiation oncologist visit, vet said she was looking good so hubby and I entertained slipping a trip in at the end of March. Not the best time of year for hubby and I to take off, work wise, but pooch was doing well, per the oncologist, so flights were booked.

I wasn't able to get a lakeside suite at Bellagio that weekend so our CET marketing executive was able to get us a room at PHo. Hubby had never stayed there so we had her book it. Last post radiation checkup was Wednesday before we left so now we don't have to go back till end of May so the guilt of leaving the pooch at the puppy spa for 4 nights was greatly lessened. Trip is on!

So our first LOSE was before we even left home. We were supposed to leave at 7:30 p.m. for a nonstop flight. At 5:00 I get the dreaded text from SWA, flight delayed 30 min. I then start checking online and departure keeps being moved in 30 min increments. I checked the radar, the entire country was clear....what's going on? Next I see departure at 10:30 then it said NTP. No time predicted?? NOOOO! I call SWA and there is an issue at LAX, soon after that I find out the flight is on its way. We finally leave AUS at 10:15 p.m. I'd been texting Sean from Presidential on our non progress so he knew we were late, he texted back and said we were always late when we flew out after work. We arrive at 11:30 and its off to PHo, where Diamond check in is naturally closed but there was no one in line so checkin was a breeze.

We're here! We get to our room and we have an amazing view of the fountains and Cosmo. The room was very nice, nicer than the one I had with my sisters a few years ago. We unpack and go grab a bite at Planet
Dailies. We started to plan our "night" while we ate. We prefer the slots at Ballys and Paris so we decided to start at Ballys at the $1 slots in the high limit area. We stop and say hi to pit boss friend Andrew then let the slots begin. We played a few hours, up an down, then decide to go to the champagne slots at Paris. Not so good. I had almost been up 24 hours, something I don't normally do so I said, "we're losing our butts, let's go to bed" so at 3:30 we head back to PHo....not sure how much we lost in those few hours. I do have to say the bed in the room at PHo was wonderful, not quite as good as Aria but a strong second! We slept til 10:30 and were pretty slow getting started.

Saturday hubby wanted to go to Mandalay, we used to stay there a lot when MGM loved us. He had a favorite $1 top dollar and I had a triple double wild cherry. Hubby strayed to a $5 top dollar and quickly lost a large chunk of his stash for the day. We decided on House of Blues for lunch and ventured over to MGM to see if we had any luck. Again, the $5 top dollars at another chunk of his stash. I didn't win but I wasn't hemorrhaging money like he was. We decided if we were going to feed machines we were going to do it at CET properties since they were offering that 50% bump through the end of March, may as well make those points count. On the walk back to PHo hubby said, "why do I always want to go to Mandalay? Next time, tell me no!" Duly noted!
We get back to PHo, picked up his free play and my shopping card, then stop at ABC store for diet dr. Pepper the we go back to the room to rest awhile. We get to the bank of elevators for the north tower, hubby looks at me and says "$100 that elevator (points at one) comes first". I push button and damn, that was his elevator! First win of the day. After mini nap we decide to go back to Ballys, we wait for the elevator and he repeats his bet and chooses an elevator, dang, 2 for 2. We change our plans and go to the diamond lounge at PHo, I've been craving a strawberry daiquiri for months. Too early for hot food so we have some snacks and a drink, which was excellent, and go make my spa appt for Monday. Then it's off to Ballys. We play high limit slots, I sneak off and buy in for $200 at 3 card poker and promptly lose it so I go back to slots with hubby. We decide we're hungry so we grab dinner at LeCafe at Paris, it was ok, it's been better and service wasn't so good this time. We go play again in the champagne slots again and nothing. BUT we're having fun so all is well. We stop at PHo and play some high card flush, just as we were sitting down a guy was getting a w2g for a 7 card flush he'd just been dealt. We've been playing this game since PHo first got it and I've never seen more then a 6 card. I also have never seen anyone get a w2g at a table game, I guess I don't sit at lucky tables! I'm not sure where the day went but next thing you know it's 1:30 a.m., time for this girl to go to bed. We get back to the room and hubby counts his $$ and says damn, I've lost half of what I brought! Needless to say he bumped up his daily stash we we went back to the room earlier! As I've said before, my hubby is the happiest loser I've ever known. We never take more than we can afford to lose and he normally makes a comeback on the last day. Oh and he won another elevator bet on the way back to the room. The man is on a roll!

More to come.
nice read, thank you for the post. now let's hear about some big wins!
I'm looking forward to the next section. Glad your fur baby is doing okay.
Yes, thank you for part 1 of this report! Sorry to read of the airplane issue, the puppy issue and the losing in gaming!

As for switching to $5 Top Dollar from $1 Top Dollar, I'm sure that that can be brutal since 5X as much money is being used at once and so if the winning does not come, it can get unfortunately brutal quickly!

I'm certainly hoping that things turn around and I'm now looking forward to reading more of the combo anniversary and birthday trip adventures.

I am also hoping for a nice come back. Thanks for an interesting start on your TR.
