Bingo, Balllys and the cooler - Mar. 28-30

I left Austin a half hour late in the last flight out on Friday night. This is our busiest time of year at work so I had to work this short trip in where I didn't miss work. The last nonstop flight out of Austin can ranged from a 6:15 to 8:40 departure, this one was supposed to be 8:15 but we left at 8:45. First score of the trip, I was seated in the window of the 4th row and a guy soon sat in the aisle seat. He wasn't really overweight, he was just a big guy so no one opted to sit between us. Uneventful flight, had my baileys and coffee and did my best to sleep. Not much luck with napping. I opted to be cheap since I was by myself instead of calling Sean from Presidential, I took the shuttle. Never again! I seriously was on the "short bus", the driver talked to us like we were 10 year olds. He had 7 different hotels to drop at and he decided to go up the strip to Cosmo first, then to Paris and Ballys, 1 hour and 15 minutes after I got off the plane. Ok, live and learn.

Checked in at the Diamond check in at Ballys and was put in the jubilee tower in room 6224 (so I was on the 12th floor)' with a great view of the Paris pool and Bellagio fountains. Very happy with the room. I unpacked and went down to play a little 3 card poker. Didn't really do much so I moved to let it ride. I was pleased that all weekend the tables were $5 minimum, even though it was March madness. Hubby gave me $200 to go run through the $5 top dollar at Paris, he said play it late, before I went to bed so I wandered over about 2:30, no luck, only hit the bonus once. I stopped by to talk to my pit boss friend before turning in around 3:30. I was lulled to sleep by the gentle thumping of bass from Chateau. No biggie, set the sleep timer on the TV and was asleep in about 10 minutes. I did get enough TC's on my card for a 125 bump.

I had to register at Harrahs before 10 a.m. for the bingo tourney. When I'm alone in Vegas I sleep with just the sneers closed, I like the lights at night. I woke up around 7, showered and head to the coffee shop at Ballys for breakfast. A hidden gem! I'd never been there before since it has goofy hours. I got in the diamond line and was seated immediately. My server told me my beverage was free since in was a diamond. Had never been told that anywhere before. I ordered an egg white omelette with mushrooms and Swiss chz, dry wheat toast and a cup of fruit. Everything was delicious and the service was very good. After I ate I head out the side door thinking I'd walk along the side street called the Linq Blvd or something on my way to Harrahs. It took me right up to the high roller (which opened the day after I left). I walked through the link, then through O'Sheas, through the Quad to Harrahs. I registered at 9:45 and they had room for me at the 10 session. A lady next to me got a bingo, won $2000 so they gave the people to the right and left the booby prize. A yellow card saying to go to registration after the game to claim my prize. Hooray, sarcasm, a 2 disc Shania Twain cd. They must not be selling so well at the Caesars. After not even coming CLOSE to a bingo, this affirmed my February observation that I NEVER WIN AT HARRAHS ! Time to leave, quickly.

Hubby gave me $300 to play $5 top dollar at Bellagio. I played the $1 machine for awhile, then moved to the $5, I think I got 1 bonus on each machine. Big woo! The $5 gods were not with me this trip. Hubby calls and says "hey, do you have $100 you can rub through the $5 top dollar at Caesars?". Of course my dear, and off I go....to lose another $100. I decided I wanted to see what the diamond lounge at Caesars was like. I had a Pinot grigio and they had a pretty nice selection of salad stuff. Just enough to hold me over til my 7:39 res at Gordon Ramsey Steak. Finally my 3.5 hours of sleep caught up with me and it was nap time. An hour later I was ready to go again. I head and something was going on outside the Jubilee theater, this was the first night of the opening of the revamped show. There were lots of people from other Caesars shows, I spoke to Robin Leach before he interviewed the guy that choreographed the new show. I talked to a lady who had been in the show years ago and retired to raise her kids. I went to play some dollar slots before changing for dinner.

My res was at 7:30, I got there at 7:15. I was finally seated, upstairs, at 7:45. I couldn't get over how loud it was. If I had been with someone, there would have been no way to have a conversation. I had a great server, his name was Chris. I had my $100 diamond dinner voucher so I ordered the american rib cap, potato puree and glass of Zin, $90. The bread plate was delicious, I finally had to ask them to remove it or I'd ruin my dinner. They brought me the same portion of bread that they brought the 2 ladies across from me. My meal finally arrived and it was ok. The meat seemed really chewy. I had ordered it medium, it was leaning more toward med rare, which was fine with me, but I really wasn't impressed. I though about ordering the sticky toffee pudding but I was full so I passed. I don't think I'd return, the meal we had at Country Club Grill was far better. At least all i paid was tip.

I decided that after dinner I would go play $500 at Let it Ride, instead of table min of $5, I'd play $25, see how long it lasted and see if it affected my TC's at all since I don't believe table play affects my TC's. I buy in and play for about 2 hours, then my dealer goes on break and in comes the cooler, her name was Pinky. I had been up to over $700 and 20 minutes later I was back to playing $5 because I was out of green chips. I left table with about $50, I told James pit boss that Pinkie had cleaned me out, move me to 3 card, I was buying in for another $500 in greens. I moved to Anna's table and played for an hour or so, up and down but having fun til Anna says, good luck everyone, I'm going on break.......oh no, here comes the cooler! Pinky comes to the table and I said "cash me in, I'm not letting you take all my money again!". I cashed in, said goodbye to
James and went to play high card flush. Now PHo, Ballys, Harrahs and Flamingo all have high card flush. I played awhile then went to play my $1 slot and ended the day with 1000 TC's so I got the 1000 bump, I'm now platinum for 2015. Off to bed at 1:00.

I wouldn't normally blow $1000 like that but I got a little unexpected bonus so it didn't really bug me to lose it, but I completely forgot to ask James what I was rated at for my few hours of $25 play. It was kind of fun actually for awhile when I was doing well.

Normally I fly out on the first non stop flight in the a.m. but originally my sister was supposed to go with me and she normally flies home on Monday so I thought I'd take the 2nd non stop so I could spend the morning with her. She ended up not going but in had already made my 2:30 reservation so I just kept it. Sunday morning I went to Bellagio for breakfast at he coffee shop, a waffle and berries. Very good, used my gold card for line cuts ad used express comps for my meal. Between the $100 diamond dinner and express comps, I didn't spend much on meals this trip. I played $1 top dollar for awhile then went back to Ballys to pack. I was able to get a late checkout so after I packed I had a few hours to kill so I found a let it ride table with 2 couples from Cali. They had accents so i asked where else they were from, they said Armenia. The 2 girls were adorable, we had a great time. They kept worrying about me missing my flight. At 12:30 I said goodbye, collected my bag and went to check out. $0 thanks to no resort fees! I had the nicest cab driver. Made it through tsa easily, got hubby his box of Ethel M and head to the gate. On time departure, hubby waiting at cell phone lot for me.

Overall it was a nice trip. I had had a pretty rough March at work so a quick getaway was nice. I never felt rushed, even though it was a short trip. We don't have our reservations yet for July for my bday yet, I guess it's time to pull out the calendar. Thanks for reading.
A short but fun trip. Thanks for taking the time to right. I have to admit the cooler part of your report cracked me up. Pinky was stinky!!! LOL.
Glad you had a good trip - I was too busy myself for my usual February getaway from Austin, stuck waiting until next month to jump on a nonstop for paradise city. Ethel M's at the airport is also a must for me. My lovely wife loves a good assortment of truffles...
Nice report!

1. I have discovered that its better to simply take a cab from the airport if there are 2 or more in your group. Or, if you are in a hurry, or, you haven't visited different areas of The Strip in awhile or ever. We now just rent a car.

2. Good to know about Gordon Ramsey Steakhouse. Have heard that its loud and overpriced, but to get a $100 voucher! Can't bring myself to spend 3 bills when I can go to The Flame and have a good solid meal.

3. We can all certainly understand "blowing" $$$ in Vegas. But I look at it as part of the entertainment budget. Even though its not that entertaining to lose!

4. My wife and I briefly walked by the Linq but it was so crowded as to not being worth the time or effort to see what the fuss was all about. Maybe after the crowds die down.

5. Thanks for letting us know about Bally's cafe. Will hit them up the next time we are in town.

thanks again for the report!

Fred

Good to know about the free beverage for Diamond's at the Bally's Coffee shop. Thanks for the TR!
FFlowers - I think Ballys needs to move Pinky to Harrahs, then she can't take any more money from me since we're swearing off Harrahs.
Melon head - it was hard for me to stop @ Ethel M this trip, I like to call myself "occasionally Catholic" and I gave up chocolate for Lent. The girl at the counter asked if I wanted a sample.....grrr, not this time!
Horace - I agree, next time I'm alone I'm taking a cab! GR steakhouse was a disappointment for sure. The $100 diamond dinner would have been the only way I would have tried it. Funny thing, my voucher expired the day after I used it. Hubby gets his voucher when we go in July, I think we'll give Mesa Grill another try.
Blond4ever - have you heard of the free drink for diamonds anywhere else? We eat at the cafe @ Paris a lot, they've never mentioned it. I was surprised at how big the cafe is, it wraps around to the left side and appears to be just above the escalators that take you to the bowels of Ballys.
Thanks for the report! The trip sounded nice! Sorry to read about your not coming in the money in the Bingo Tournament as well as your mostly losing while playing. I wish you better results the next time!

For me, if I were to get $500 to go up to more than $700, I'd be wanting out for the session since that is about a 40% profit return on the money that I started with.
