So I turned 50 on the 9th and it was full of surprises. First surprise, well sort of, my work threw me a surprise dinner at a really nice restaurant I'm Austin, it was a week before my actual b-day and would have been a surprise had my bosses wife not called me earlier in the day to tell me happy b-day and she wasn't going to make dinner. Apparently they'd been planning this dinner for over a month. Oh well, it was really nice and they got me a great watch, beautiful flowers and we had a great dinner. It was extra nice that we were able to do the dinner while my niece, that has worked with me for the past year, was still here. She was leaving for a new job in Florida a few days later.
Second surprise, hubby takes me to dinner on my actual birthday before we leave town (we had reservations in Vegas on Sunday the 14th to celebrate). Flemings was delish, they gave me truffles to take home and a $25 gift card for next time. Hubby gave me a gift cert to my favorite place, Lake Austin Spa...this will have to wait til after Vegas.
July 12 arrives, I have to work til 11, then run home and we throw stuff in the car and head to ABIA for our 2:40 flight. Hubby had taken the dog to the puppy spa that morning. Goofy dog jumped out of his truck when he opened the door and head for the door of the kennel. I guess she was ready for a vacation too. We had early bird boarding, A52 & 53 and we still had to go all the way to the back for 2 seats together. Random question, why do some women feel the need to wear so much perfume and why do some people not wear deodorant? It was nearly 100 degrees when we left Austin and the plane stayed warm the whole flight.
Another on time SWA flight, our driver from Presidential was waiting for us, we collected our bags and were off to Paris. Still enjoying the perks of platinum, we proceed to check in, no waiting. We had a red room comped for 4 nights. We were in room 2772, we could see the fountains partially from one window, the construction of the new sky wheel @ the Linq out the other. We unpack and head down to grab a bite, Gordon Ramsey BurGR @ PH.
There was about a 10 min wait to be seated. Hubby ordered the blue cheese burger I ordered the American. We split an order of fries. Burgers were pretty good, I still prefer Le Burgee Brasserie. The ketchup was just weird. The curry one tasted more like chili powered to me....what happened to Heinz? After we ate I suggested playing a little 3 card while we were there. Hubby said he never wins @ PH but I said let's just buy in for $100. While we were playing we noticed a new game called high card flush....we'd be back another day to check it out. We played for an hour or so, hubby had more than he started with, I lost my buy in. We piddled around on machines for awhile, then went to the ABC store for diet dr. Pepper and water for the room.
After unpacking ABC stuff we went over to play @ Ballys. They have some $1 machines that pay 2x RC's that I noticed when i was there in April and I wanted ton see if they were still marked as 2x RC's. They were, hubby sat at his favorite and I sat at mine and we played awhlile. After that we played 3 card for awhile, then decided to turn in close to midnight. Hubby was still up, I was only down a couple hundred. We did both get the extra 125 TC's for the day.
More tomorrow....another surprise....
