The birthday trip continues....and how the Bellagio tried to ruin it...July 12-16

Saturday morning we're up and about early, take our time getting ready, then head down to breakfast at the cafe in Paris. I tease my husband, he's not a fan if eating outside and we always get put in the "outside" section at the cafe. He says that's about as outside as he'll go. Breakfast was good...and the cafe is close to my favorite triple double wild cherry machine, which I hit up as soon as we finished. This machine hasn't been kind to me the last few visits and today was no exception. Hubby suggested we go to the Bellagio to see the summer display so across the street we went. We took some pix, then he found his top dollar machine and I was off to play the penny penguin machine. After a glass or 2 of mimosa, hubby came over to see how I was doing...$35 up, and he hands me his phone. I look at it and see a reservation, which I thought was our dinner reservation for Sunday night for Circo. He said no, look again. BIG surprise, we were moving, he'd reserved a lakeside suite @ Bellagio for the next 3 nights. I was stunned and thrilled, we've never stayed @ Bellagio. Apparently he'd made this reservation about 45 days before our trip, he said he didn't know how to stop me from unpacking @ Paris the night before so we were going to have to go pack. No problem I told him.

We went to check in and were immediately told there were no lakeside suites available. What? Hubby had first called casino marketing to make the reservation but they told him he should call the hotel direct because they couldn't guarantee the suite. He finally made the reservation, explaining the surprise and all for my 50th bday and they charged him that day for the Sat. night. So, he asks, what are you going to do. The man @ the front desk said hen could give us a room that had a water view in the spa tower but it wouldn't be smoking and it wasn't ready. Hubby not happy one bit. Then he says they're charging him $75 less a night (which was giving hi nothing, the suite they out us in was SUPPOSED to be $75 less s night). If course we're assured we can move if something comes available and that they will send us a text to tell us that the room is ready.

So off to Rio we go to see the triple double wild cherry gods that were so kind to me in Feb. Were going to be I've today. Not! We then find a 3 card table and buy in for $200 each. We play for a few hours and I'm starting to get hungry so I say last hand...well last hand was a straight flush so I cashed out with a nice little profit. We go back to Paris and eat dinner @ the cafe again, then go up and pack for our move.

Th suite we had in the spa tower was on the 31st floor and it was VERY nice. I felt bad for my hubby, he'd gone to great lengths to make this a nice surprise and he was still pretty miffed about us not getting the right room. I told him this one was just fine and I was thrilled. We unpacked, then laughed about how not only did the suite have more bathrooms than our house, it had more TV's! It was really neat to turn the Bellagio channel on and watch the fountains with the music going. We had to stay in the room and watch a few, then we decided it was time to get our gamble on. We enjoy playing @ Ballys and Paris so back across the street we go. We head up to the high limit room to play on the 2x RC machines again, then I go over to one of the 2 coin $1 top dollars up there and start to play. Hubby sits down at the 3 coin $1 top dollar machine, the one next to the King Cash machine I like to play. I hear him getting the bonus quite a bit. All of a sudden he says "come here" so I walk over and he's just hit the $1000 bonus, and he only put $30 in the machine! I was so glad for him. He was pretty happy. I went to play let it ride and he went to play 3 card, then I joined him @ 3 card for awhile. We went back up to the room at Paris for a quick potty stop, then went back across to Bellagio. It was after midnight so no more fountain shows for the night but we did return to find that theybhad come to turn down the bed, left us slippers and chocolate. I told hubby he was spoiling me and it he wasn't careful I was going to expect chocolates on my nightstand every night. Hubby's nice hit on the slot machine had him up for the trip and my straight flush @ Rio found me only down $200 for the trip. We'll take it.

Day 3 tomorrow.
The suite he originally reserved was a premier lakeside suite, the ones in the main tower, directly facing the lake. I had to look it up on their website to make sure

I think ya'll did fine. Sounds like you had a wonderful room. Bellagio has been having a lot of promotions that include a (free) "suite", so that may have sucked up a lot of those in the main tower during your stay. Funny...you'd think a paying customer would have priority. Doesn't necessarily work out that way.

I've always wondered, has anyone stayed in one of the villas which are right ON the lake? They have their own pool, their own valets, their own everything. According to the promo literature you almost can't even reserve one...for VERY high rollers only. I've peered down onto them many times from our windows and never have seen any human activity. Access is from a private entrance, but I'd have thought I'd see people sunning on their little verandas, pools, etc.
Thanks for posting Part 2 of your report and it sounds good so far (especially for your husband's nice $1k hit plus his setting up the Bellagio suite)!

Looking forward to reading more of your adventures!

I hate what that happens!!! I am so glad you liked the suite they ended up giving you, and that you helped to make him feel better about it. I am looking forward to the next installment. Thanks for taking the time to post.
Candy, I saw those pools at the villas you mention.
