My sister and I headed to Charles Town yesterday and came home today. Had been thinking about AC in February, but with two cancelled trips last year, we opted to go to CT instead. We can throw that together quickly, when we know the weather will cooperate!
Now, when this trip began, I wasn’t planning on doing a trip report as I usually don’t do them anyway. So I apologize if it is too long. Suffice it to say that I did not come home a winner, and neither did my sister, though she did better than I. But, the end was so crazy I just had to post about it.
The last machine I played was a 10X Pay. 10X Pay is one of my favorite games and I have good luck on it. In March of 2005, I hit on a dollar one for $6000. I have had some good hauls on .25 machines and won $1000 back in December of last year on a dollar one, all at Charles Town. So I headed for a .25 machine with my last $100. Hit some combinations with the ten, and got it up to about $175. So I decided to go try the dollar one I had hit on in December. Well, spent almost all of it and hit for $150 with a 10 and 2 bars. This gave me about $160, maybe less. Kept playing, and the tens were all around. Not on the line, but saw them just about every spin, which I consider a good sign. I just had a really strong feeling that this machine was ripe to hit, so decided just to play all of what I had in this machine. But, it didn’t hit and in the end, I lost it all. Wanted so bad to get another $100, but had spent what I had brought, and done nothing but lose, so I didn’t.
Just as I was getting up a guy came up to take my place. He said he had been watching me and I told him about how I really felt that this machine was going to hit, but I was out of money. We talked for a few, and I told him about how much I liked 10X Pay, the $6000 I had won back in '05 (two 10’s and a double blue bar) and wished him luck. I then went off to find my sister.
Well, I looked for probably no more than 15 minutes, probably less, and couldn’t find her. So, I decided to go back by the machine and see how he was doing. As I approach, I see there is a crowd gathered. “I knew it” I think to myself. When I get up there, it had hit! TWO TENS AND THE DOUBLE BLUE BARS FOR $6000!!! You could have knocked me over with a feather! I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry. But, I was happy for him and it made me feel a little better knowing that my gut had been right.
We hugged and I congratulated him and said “I told you”! I don’t think he could believe, it, either. He kept saying “what’s your name”. LOL There were people crowded around and we were telling them the whole story, etc. I left after a few and went to text my sister. But then went back to see it again. Still couldn’t believe it.
Then left again and was getting ready to text my sister again when this lady, who was one of the people gathered around, comes up to me and says “that guy wants you to come back”. I’m thinking he wants a picture or something, but when I go over he gives me a ticket worth $150, what I had lost in the machine!! I couldn’t believe it! Told him that it wasn’t necessary, but he said he knows what it’s like to be up there with no money. Not sure if he thought maybe it was karma, or what, but I thought it was very nice of him, and certainly not necessary.
So, Bruce (that’s what he said his name was) hopefully you are an LVA member and will get to read this; your empathy and generosity was greatly appreciated.
