We stayed at the Cosmopolitan a week after they opened on a Limo/Taxi driver promotion where we were given a free suite, $150 in food credit and two buffets. We played a little after dinner the first night and a little bit before we checked out. Three weeks ago I received an offer for two complimentary nights in a wrap-a-round suite, $500 food credit and $300 free play. We stayed there Tuesday and Wednesday night. I wouldn't say that it was actually a suite, it was more like an apartment with a full kitchen, Clothes washer/dryer, full guest bath (including a shower), wrap around terrace with a view of the East and the South. Here is a trip report w/pictures if this works.
The first shots are the kitchen which again had a sink, full refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and wine cooler.

Hey, this picture thing actually works!

And finally, the pool area view from our balcony

We checked in Tuesday afternoon. After checking out the room (and taking pictures) we prepared for dinner. We had a 6:00 reservation at STK which is the steakhouse at Cosmo. We had eaten there on our first trip and it was incredible. We invited two couples who are our neighbors since they had been so kind to Peggy since she broke her femur. They constantly came over and looked in on her while I was at work and brought over food. This was our way of thanking them (and there is no way that we could have used $500 in food credit by ourselves)!
Well, we had a wonderful dinner with the bill coming to $462 for the six of us. We then invited the couples up to our suite to show them what it looked like. After they left, it was downstairs for a little gambling.
All during our stay, I kept running into people that I had worked with at Red Rock. When we valet parked our car, the valet was someone I had worked with. On Wednesday morning after we got up, we went to the buffet which is wonderful. At he omelet station, the cook was the same cook that had worked in the TDR (Team Dining Room) at Red Rock. Red Rock laid him off when they stopped having special orders in the TDR and now he is at Cosmo. Our server at the buffet formerly worked at Salt Lick at Red Rock. He now works in the morning at the Cosmo Buffet and at night he works at Little Buddha at the Palms. Every where I walked, I would see people who looked familiar and we would find out that we both worked at Red Rock.
Anyway, after breakfast we played a little. Actually, most of the day we played. In the afternoon we drove over to the M Casino where they were giving out blankets (one of their monthly gifts). On our way back we stopped at New York, New York where for some reason (we don't play there at all) we had gotten an offer for the month of February. I was given $100 in free play each week and Peggy was given $20 in free play each week. And, if you used it each of the first 3 weeks, your fourth week would be double. So in the last week of February, I will have $200 in free play and Peggy will have $40.
We then returned to the Cosmo to freshen up. We had tickets to see Frank Caliendo at Monte Carlo that evening so we decided to try Diabolo's at Monte Carlo for dinner since we had never eaten there. I was thinking of taking the Tram from Aria to Monte Carlo, but there were too many obstacles with Peggy still in the wheel chair, so we drove over to Monte Carlo and valet parked.
Diabolo's was just OK. It is basically bar food and nothing really exceptional. Of course, the same could be said for Frank Caliendo. The show was OK and his impressions of George W., Bill Clinton and Al Pacino were right on but the show became tedious. It seemed like a thrown together thing where they just go with the flow. George Wallace's show is like that, but George always keeps it going and hilarious.
After the show we went back to Cosmo and played a little bit. Periodically we would check with the Rewards desk and we did accumulate free play which they would immediately put on our card for use.
On Thursday morning we again went to the Buffet for breakfast, played a little and checked out at noon. Peggy had a dental appointment at 1 PM followed by a visit to Steinberg Diagnostics where she had to have an x-ray of the leg done for her Orthopedic surgeon follow-up next week. Steinberg is right near the M, so after the x-ray we went over to the M where we had free play and free buffets. All in all, it was a wonderful three days and Peggy enjoyed getting out of the house since she had been cooped up so much since she broke the femur.
As I said after my first Cosmo visit, the place is exceptional. The rooms, restaurants and common areas are wonderfully designed with the guest in mind. Some side notes: I checked my room charges on the TV Wednesday morning and noticed that there was a $72 charge from STK. Since the food was comped and I paid the tip in cash, this confused me. I checked with the front desk and it certainly was a gratuity charge, but they would take it off the bill. Later that night I went to STK to speak to a manager and he told me that it is automatic for parties of 5 or more to have the gratuity added to the bill, but when the server received the cash tip (which was more than the $72 charged), he should have called over a manager to over-ride the automatic charge. He said that it had happened before, apologized and told me that they were working on changing the computer system so that it would not happen again. It wasn't a big deal since the front desk had already corrected it, but I wanted to inform the manager of the situation.
P.S. When I checked out there was no charge at all on the bill for anything.
A second side note - when I checked in for my two complimentary nights, the front desk person said that the first night was free and the second night was $320. I informed him that my offer was for two free nights which he then found and said there would be no charge for the second night. I was glad that it happened because I then found out what the room would be if I actually paid.
My thoughts - even if you paid full price ($320) per night, this room is definitely worth it. Everything that you could possible want was in there, as I think it was probably originally designed as one of the condos that they were selling.
Well, even though we live in Las Vegas, this was a great get-away. I truly hope that the Cosmopolitan does well financially because they certainly do everything right in treating their guests.
