Hubby and I took our mostly annual September trip the weekend of the 18th-21st. We had booked our room on a comp he received that had a free room and 2 tix to The Who. He wasn't going to go to the concert with me, but I was looking forward to it, then I read on LVA that Roger had a virus and they'd canceled their Vegas show. I hopped on hubby's TR site to see what other offer he had, the best one had $200 in free play.
The first, first....for the last year we had been assigned a marketing executive, her name was Maria and she was great. She sent me a note before our July trip and said she'd been moved to Iowa and was now a host. She said someone would be contacting us to be our new marketing executive. In August, hubby gets a phone call from a lady saying she was his host and sent him an email. A first for us. I sent her a note and told her that I pretty much made all the reservations so she would be dealing with me more often than not. She sent me back a nice note saying to let her know when I needed her to book anything and she'd let us know when things were coming up. I mentioned I'd already booked the Who offer but hadn't gotten a confirmation so she sent it to me. When I saw the concert cancelation I sent her an email and asked her if we could used the $200 free play offer instead. She said let's wait til management decides what to do, that they were trying to work up an alternate offer. A day or so later she sent an offer of free play and airfare reimbursement, which could all be taken as free play. It was considerably more than his $200 in free play so we said that will work. She told me her office was by the diamond lounge at PHo so let her know when we were in the DL and she'd come by and visit with us. I had told her I liked their strawberry daiquiris better than any of the other DLs.
We flew out on the last flight out of Austin, thankfully it was at 5:40 ( which is nice because the last non stop fight can vary between 5:30 p.m. and 8:40 p.m.). Hubby and I had both applied for TSA pre check a few months ago and got our TT# a few weeks before we left so check in was a breeze, not that there were many people there at 4:30 in the afternoon. Uneventful flight, I watched direct tv on my iPad, Gotham...I'm a Batman need) while enjoying a Bloody Mary (I changed it up in July from baileys and coffee and since I had good luck in July...well you know, superstition. We landandget our bags and our friend sent a text that he was running late, but we didn't have to wait long for him and we're delivered to Paris pretty quickly. No wait in the diamond check in and we were off to our room on the 27th floor. Lately we've had the view of the Eiffel Tower, Paris pool and fountains, this time we were a bit further back, more facing PHo but we could see the fountains. We unpack and head to the sports book to pick up college football betting sheets. We were hungry so we ate at the cafe in Paris, hubby had the burgundy beef and I had the French dip and we split the Caesar salad. It's huge, too big for one person. The cafe is always pretty good but the sandwich was hard for me to eat because in August I had a molar pulled and bone graft in preparation for an implant and it was still healing so I can really only chew on one side. Thank goodness for au jus!
After we ate we went off to the TR booth to get my diamond dinner voucher, we had Saturday reservations at Gordon Ramsey steak. We also got his freeplay and my....wait for it.....$70 freeplay. Yes, I'm quite the high roller! Hubby wanted to bet a few early a.m. games so we went back to the sports book so we could each do a parlay, 3 team. Next stop Ballys for $1 slots in the high limit room. There was a man playing my fave and hubby's fave at the same time so I played my second fave and hubby played top dollar. Second first, I was finally playing my favorite slot and hubby was on his and a host comes up and introduces himself to me and said if I needed anything to let him know. That happened to hubby once last year, but hadn't happened to me. We piddled around up there, I ended up with 500 TCs and hubby ended up getting 1000 TCs between Ballys and Paris that night. We stopped to say hi to our pit boss friend Andrew and caught up with him for awhile. We always have to end the night on the $5 top dollar machine in the champagne slots at Paris. We didn't have much luck Friday, we both went to bed about $500 down and called it a night at 1:30.
Saturday morning we had breakfast at the cafe again, the 2 egg breakfast, scrambled for him, poached for me. Hard to mess up breakfast, food was good and service was good. OU started at 9:00 so we found a table in the bar at the sports book so we could watch it. Paris hotel rooms don't have the Fox Sports 1 channel. I always have to laugh, I go make my sports bets and the guy at the counter gives me 2 free drink coupons, hubby makes his bets and spends a lot more $$ on his bets than I do and he never gets drink coupons! I use mine for a mimosa and I get the hubby a Bloody Mary. We watch the first half of the game in the bar then we decided it's time to gamble. Hubby wanted to go to Wynn for awhile so we stop at First and play slots there, then go to Wynn. We probably spent 2 hours at Wynn and didn't win anything but it seemed like no one else was winning, I didn't see anyone getting had pays and there was no excitement at the tables. We decide to go play at Aria, hoping to hit the high limit room and see if the $10 top doll machine I won on in July would be nice to us. $400 later and let's just say NO, it was not nice to us, so we went to Jean Phillippe for a consulation gelato. We were running out of funds in our wallets so we head back to the room to re stock. I had told our host that we'd try to meet her about 3:00 so we head over to PHo and had the girl at the diamond lounge check in call her. She was there in 5 minutes. She visited with is for awhile and told us to text her when we were leaving and she would check us out and see if she could comp anything. She also told us that in Friday nights both the Paris and the PHo DLs have a carving station in addition to their hot foods. Good to know. We finished our drinks and went down to play 3 card poker. Our favorite table is the one next to the high card flush, but it was completely full. We walked over to the dollar machines near the high limit. I sat down at the cherry machine, not sure what kind 4x maybe and hubby plays another machine close by. I want paying attention and thought I was betting Max but ended up only betting $1 at a time so I hit something that payed me $300, dang, if I'd only been paying attention! I think I ended up cashing out after an hour or so with a $400 profit, yay I got back the $$ I lost at Aria. We went back to 3 card and the table was still full so we bought in for $200 at high card flush, hubby likes first base and I sat next to him. I was doing ok, winning hands here and there but hubby was just losing $$ so he took his $100 he had left to the 3 card table. He was back in 10 minutes and said 'that was a fast $200". He was about to walk off to go back to the $1 machine he'd been playing on and I looked at my hand and told him wait he needed to see this, as I tripled my ante bet. The dealer asks if I had something good and I said oh yes. He turned my cards over, I had a 6 card straight with a 4 card straight flush. I was paid $800 on the side bets and since the dealer qualified, I won all my other bets. That was the best hand I've ever gotten in high card flush. I've played this at PHo since they put it in and the only time I've EVER left the table with $$ was in March of this year and I left with $200 over my buy in. Hubby went to play slots and I said I was staying for awhile. I ended up cashing out with two purples so I at least kept my $800 win! I think our host must have given me a little luck! We went back to Paris to rest awhile before dinner. My wins at PHo and brought me back to even for the trip.
More of Saturday and Sunday tomorrow. Thanks for reading.
