Coupon King Does It Again, April 29-May 5th

Just returned from Las Vegas from a six day vacation. Here is my trip report. The MyVegas Rewards were easy to redeem out there. Never had to wait longer than 5 minutes at each casino. These promotions are simple to use if you just read the fine print and follow instructions. MyVegas rewards- Used the Criss angel companion pass, and thought his show was great,my mom also liked it. Used the Bellagio Lunch buffet BOGO, and we both loved it. Used the Mirage Buffet Dinner Comp, and that was also awesome, all you can eat crab legs and beer and wine. Used the Palace station Buffet for two,and the thing that stood out for me was the Burger Bar,it was free,so what can you say. I also used the free margarita comp. they were 99 cents but it was good. Monorail passes were used to get to Luxor for Criss angel show. If you do not like to walk, I would not recommend those passes. I had the American Casino Guide and the Las Vegas Advisor Member rewards book with me and made about $200 cash on their casino free plays and scored on every match play on Craps ,except at the Plaza, and The Las Vegas Club downtown. In total I brought $400 to spend on gambling and food and came home with $1252 after all expenses for the trip. I hit a straight flush (50-1)on the Three Card Poker Table game at Jokers Wild Casino on Boulder Highway. We had a car, so visiting the casinos for free play and match play was a breeze. Had pizza at Pizza Rock downtown and Metro pizza at Ellis Island. Steak Special at Ellis island was awesome and had many of the 20z light beers from their on site brewery. As for accomodations, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Vacations Desert Inn Timeshare that my parents have had since 1988 for 4 days, that was awesome, being right behind the High roller on Koval lane. We checked out of there and stayed at Mirage for two comped nights for being Gold Mlife members. Asked if there were any comp upgrades, and was given a choice of a larger bathroom or stripview, so we took the view. No resort fees, i refuse to pay for something i am not going to use. Highlight of the trip was enjoyiing free drinks in the Harrahs sports book for all of the trip. every bet i make i tip the teller $1 and get handed drink coupons during the session. i still have twelve drink coupons to use next year,as they do not have a date on them. Mirage sportsbook requires $10 per bet to get 1 coupon. I hit 4 Jackpots on video keno $187.50 for 5 of 5. I hit the Oaks Derby double , Win Place Show for the winner, the $1 exacta, and the $1 trifecta on the Kentucky Derby. Im a Video Keno player ,Horse race player and craps player,no video slots ever, they suck in Las vegas. Sorrry for the long winded report,I had a ball out there. No complaints, nothing in life is perfect, and i dont let small things affect my happiness. Looking forward to my next trip to Sin City.
May I be the first to congratulate you on a winning 6 day trip. Good attitude "nothing in life is perfect, and i don't let small things affect my happiness" We should all live by those words.
Thanks for the report. I, too, am a video keno player, and I love Vegas as they have lots of them. Atlantic city is sadly lacking in good paying machines. I am just hoping the new casinos coming to Massachusetts will have them too.

Thanks for the report! Good going on the winnings and on the good coupon usage as well as on the MyVegas comps useage!

As for using the Monorail, at least for me, I found it to be a huge pain since I found it to be way back in the casino and is a long walk back there going to and coming from it.

And as for your getting paid $187.50 on your 5 of 5 in Video Keno, I have found out that that actually is (unfortunately) low pay for it! I have seen pay schedules (at least in Downtown LV) of 3-12-810 (which is $202.50 for the 5 of 5) and 3-13-838 (which is $209.50 for the 5 of 5) for 3 hits, 4 hits and 5 hits respectively. So that means that the pay of $187.50 (at least on a 25 Cent machine) is pay of 750 coins for the 5 of 5 which is low.

I encourage players to very carefully check out Video Keno pay schedules. I have previously seen in the same casino at the same time Video Keno pay schedules (for 4 spots) on different machines of 2-5-68, 2-5-77, 2-5-91 and 2-5-100 (which is a 32 coin difference in the 4 out of 4 pay when you compare the lowest pay schedule offered versus the highest paying pay schedule).

And actually, the Wizard Of Odds website has a Keno Calculator link and it can tell you (if you're interested) what the return on that kind of pay schedule is.

You could bet both sides of the same game at Mirage for $5.50 each and then you're getting a drink ticket for $.50 rather than $1.00.
or how about both sides for $10 each and 2 free drink tickets.
Thanks everyone for your comments and opinions, next visit,I will be armed with more info on keno paytables,I had no idea CET was robbing me. Anyway, they sent me a birthday email for a free drink via email, lol.

You're very welcome for my comments and opinions.

And so if you compare the 750 coin hits that you received versus the 3-13-838 pay schedule that is still available in some casinos, just with your hitting the 5 out of 5 and nothing else, you ended up being paid 88 coins less (750 coins versus 838 coins) for each one of them that you hit. If that was on a Quarter machine, that was $22 less pay than you could have received on each one of the four of them that you received!

Now since you said that you hit 5 out of 5 four times, as opposed to the 3-13-838 pay schedule that you could have faced as you could have had you gone elsewhere, just getting the 5 out of 5 hits got you the casino pay of $88 less (at $22 for each of the four times that you hit it) than you could have been paid. But, in addition to this, in order to add on more insult to injury, if your machine paid you 12 coins for getting 4 hits out of 5 instead of being paid 13 coins for 4 hits out of 5, that alone then cost you another additional coin each time you got 4 out of 5 hits.

So this is not good at all!

And so when I just went to the Wizard Of Odds' Keno Calculator and plugged in the two pay schedules of 3-12-750 (if that's the accurate pay schedule) as well as 3-13-838 in order to contrast them, I found out that the 3-12-750 pay schedule gave you an overall return rate of 88.06067% versus a return rate of 94.94524%. This is close to 6.9% less return than you could have received! And so you could have been facing a casino advantage of about 5.055% instead of the at least 11.94% casino advantage that you ended up facing! So you ended up facing a return rate of just over 88% versus a return rate of just under 95%!

And now as for the 4 Hits out of 5 (which I'm sure that you received at least some of the time during these playing sessions that you had), I found out that this happens on average about 1 in 82.70 plays (which means that it happens on about 1.21% of the plays). With the 3-13-838 pay schedule, 4 out of 5 hits comprises over 15.7% of the return. But with the 3-12-750 pay schedule, 4 hits out of 5 comprises just over 14.5% of the return.

And so as for 5 spots, with better pay schedules, you could have ended up being paid either $15 or $22 more for each of the 5 out of 5 hits that you did receive based on the different pay schedules that you could have faced plus at least on one of these pay schedules 1 coin more for each 4 out of 5 hit that you had.

So I can't urge you (as well as all Video Keno players out there) enough to look around very carefully for the best returning pay schedules before you sit down to play any game. You can now see that pay schedules in this game not only matter but also can differ greatly!

And so just because Video Keno machines are available to play on, their returns might truly be terrible especially since they are played at a lot faster rate than regular Keno is.
