dear diary 1

wayne here. went to vegas 7-23 with denise, julia, sarah, and met julia's friend jamie.

flight out of milwaukee was good and 20 minutes early on southwest. bussed to dollar.
had a nice, cool, can't think of the car i rented but they didn't have it in stock. i told the
guy i would take anything. he gave me the dadollac. a nice baby blue somethingmarqis
four door. i would hear about this the whole trip.

took the strip, sarah's first trip to vegas, to flamingo. my room comped, sarah's friend and
family 35 per night.

i went to diamond lounge and checked in. got our room keys, went to the elevator, got to
the room and found that i had lost my room keys in those five minutes. went back and
got new keys after telling three of those in line my story. they let me get my keys.

we are here for sarah's 21st birthday. she's 23. we didn't make it the last few years, and
i told denise it's now or never. i'm a great dad. i get to go to vegas for my girl!

we all settled in and walked the strip. went to the tequila bar at ballys for drinks and snacks.
the girls, julia, sarah, jamie, ordered the fish bowl something or other. it's only $20, so there's
not a lot of alcohol in it. denise and i had a decent margarita. we shared nachos, etc.

we wandered the south side of the strip hitting paris, hr, cosmo, bel, caesar, mirage, harrahs and
back to flamingo. the girls went out after that. denise read a book.

i went to ellis island for the barbeque. i walked flamingo road on the ballys side. there were three guys
and a dog in the bushes. i think lots of beer. as i walked passed them one of the guy started to
howl, then another, then the dog. poor dog. he/she was sleeping. i used the other side on the
way back.

arrived at ellis and sat outside right away. it's 100 degrees. ordered half a rack of ribs. they
were tasty, but they were cooked earlier and heated on the grill but not hot enough. corn was
mushy. cole slaw was good. beans ok.

went inside to play. ordered a weiss beer for $2. broke even at vp. played bj for a half hour.
the guy on my right was a pilot for southwest. i arrived on southwest today. bad bj player.

broke even at bj and went to the craps table. bought in for 200. i was the only player.
they shove me the dice and i play. don't remember the details. i'm betting for the
dealers on my bets. on my second round of shooting i'm told i can't set the dice.
just pick them up and throw them. i am not setting the dice. just fiddling with them
for a few seconds. i throw a few and 7 out. tell the guys i'm out. they ask why, and
i explain that i'm not setting the dice and am leaving. i'm not mad, but they really
sweat the bets at ellis.

found a waitress that i have talked to over the years who has been there forever. a young, tall, dark-haired girl with a european accent.

did not use my three drinks at ei. first time. as a matter of fact, i did not have
even a slight hangover this trip. family!!

got back to the room around 10:30 vegas time. it's 12:30 wisconsin time with three days to go.

Thanks Waynes, for your first LV Diary entry for this visit!

What a nice dad you are!

Too bad about Ellis Island and how they treated you about the dice!

If you are the only one at the table, who the hell cares what you do with the dice? You aren't holding anyone up or anything.....:/ Looking forward to hearing about the next 3 days!
